WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association Postseason Awards

The WPIAL Baseball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced Tuesday the 2012 winners of its annual Players, Pitchers and Coaches of the Year Awards. Players, Pitchers and Coaches of the Year were selected in Classes AAAA, AAA, AA and A based on regular season performance by a vote of WPIAL head baseball coaches. The winners will be honored at an Awards Banquet on June 8 at the Airport Marriott.
Winners of the Player of the Year Awards are:
Class AAAA J.J. Matijevic of Norwin High School
Class AAA Zarley Zalewski of Valley High School
Class AA Ben Hartz of Shady Side Academy
Class A John Sansone of Neshannock High School
Winners of the Pitcher of the Year Awards are:
Class AAAA Anthony Garofalo of Plum High School
Class AAA Greg Schneider of Thomas Jefferson High School
Class AA Anthony Carusone of Ellwood City High School
Class A T.D. Conway of California Area High School
Winners of the Coach of the Year Awards are:
Class AAAA Mike Liebdzinski of Norwin High School
Class AAA Steve Bucci of South Park High School
Class AA Skooter Roebuck of Brownsville Area High School
Class A Don Hartman of California Area High School
Awards will be presented to the winners at the June 8 Awards Banquet that kicks off the WBCA's All-Star Weekend. In addition to the Awards Banquet, the weekend includes an Underclassmen Showcase to be held at Burkett Field in Robinson Township on June 9 and an All-Star Doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. on June 10, also at Burkett Field. The All-Star doubleheader will feature the top 80 senior baseball players in the WPIAL.
