WPIAL Class 2A football roundup: Jay Wrona throws for 289 yards, 4 TDs in Mohawk victory

Jay Wrona threw four touchdown passes, including two to Bobby Fadden, as No. 5 Mohawk earned a 38-14 win over Ellwood City (3-3, 1-2) in the Class 2A Midwestern Athletic Conference on Friday night.
Wrona completed 21 of 38 passes for 289 yards, including two TD passes to Bobby Fadden and scoring strikes to Blake Logan and Dante Retort. Sam List added a 30-yard TD run for the Warriors (5-1, 3-0).
Ellwood City running back Elijah Palmer-McCane was held to 34 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Serra Catholic 20, Derry 12 — Quadir Stribling threw for 192 yards and a touchdown and ran for another TD to lead Serra Catholic (1-4, 1-1) over Derry (3-3, 2-1) in an Allegheny Conference contest. Ahmad Ward ran for 149 yards and both Derry touchdowns.
Steel Valley 49, Apollo-Ridge 17 — Donald Barksdale ran for 196 yards and four touchdowns as No. 2 Steel Valley (4-1, 3-0) beat Apollo-Ridge (1-5, 0-3) in the Allegheny Conference. Del Shields added 104 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Karter Schrock ran for 161 yards and a touchdown for Apollo-Ridge.
Yough 21, Ligonier Valley 0 — Raidon Kuroda ran for 138 yards and a touchdown and Shane Swope had 130 rushing yards and a score as Yough (2-4, 1-2) shut out Ligonier Valley (2-4, 1-2) in the Class 2A Allegheny Conference. Swope had an 80-yard touchdown run and Kuroda scored from 10 yards out. Antonio Marra added a 4-yard touchdown run for the Cougars.
Keystone Oaks 41, Charleroi 14 — Keystone Oaks (3-3, 2-1) beat Charleroi (0-5, 0-2) in Century Conference play.
McGuffey 17, Sto-Rox 0 — In the Century Conference, McGuffey (4-2, 3-0) shut out Sto-Rox (1-4, 1-2).
Washington 48, Waynesburg Central 14 — Eddie Lewis rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns to lead top-ranked Washington (6-0, 2-0) to the Century Conference win at Waynesburg Central (4-2, 1-2). Washington’s defense held Waynesburg Central to 117 total yards.
Beaver Falls 41, Riverside 6 — Da’Sean Anderson threw for 131 yards and one touchdown and ran for two TDs as Beaver Falls (3-3, 2-1) beat Riverside (0-5, 0-3) in Midwestern Athletic Conference play. Datalian Beauford rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown for Beaver Falls. Ayden Garcia threw for 100 yards for Riverside.
Neshannock 35, New Brighton 7 — Anthony Eakin rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns as No. 3 Neshannock (5-1, 3-0) scored 28 points in the second quarter in its Midwestern Athletic Conference win at New Brighton (0-6, 0-3). Brian Taylor tossed for 105 yards and a touchdown for New Brighton.
Western Beaver 48, Freedom 0 — Jaivin Peel threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns to lead Western Beaver (3-3, 2-1) to the Midwestern Athletic Conference win at Freedom (2-4, 1-2). Mikey Crawford caught three scoring passes while Tyson Florence ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception for another.
Beaver 56, Brentwood 20 — Brady Mayo ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception 55 yards for another TD as Class 3A Beaver (5-1) defeated Class 2A Brentwood (0-6). Quay Cain threw for 108 yards and a touchdown and ran for a 65-yard TD for Beaver, which led at halftime, 49-6. Cedric Davis threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns for Brentwood.
