WPIAL Class 2A football roundup: Neshannock edges Beaver Falls in overtime

Jino Mozzocio scored on a 10-yard run in overtime as No. 3 Neshannock earned a 27-26 victory over Beaver Falls (2-3, 1-1) in the Class 2A Midwestern Athletic Conference on Friday night.
Mozzocio also threw a 37-yard TD pass to Carter DeVivo, and Patrick Argiro and Anthony Bonner each returned interceptions for touchdowns for Neshannock (4-1, 2-0).
Datalian Beauford scored on an 8-yard pass from Da’Sean Anderson in overtime for Beaver Falls, but the two-point conversion pass failed.
Freedom 21, Riverside 7 — Tyler Schultheis threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns — both to Cody Patterson — in Freedom’s Midwestern Athletic Conference win against Riverside (0-4, 0-2). Patterson caught six passes for 135 yards while Tyler Welsh added 115 rushing yards and a touchdown for Freedom (2-3, 1-1). Robert Jans ran for 107 yards and Riverside’s lone touchdown.
Mohawk 42, New Brighton 6 — Jay Wrona threw for 149 yards and three touchdowns as No. 5 Mohawk (4-1, 2-0) beat New Brighton (0-5, 0-2) in the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Bobby Fadden caught two touchdown passes while Justin Boston ran for two more in the win.
Western Beaver 41, Ellwood City 18 — Jaivin Peel threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns to lead Western Beaver (2-3, 1-1) to the Midwestern Athletic Conference win at Ellwood City (3-2, 1-1). Mikey Crawford caught seven passes for 149 yards and a touchdown while Dorian McGhee had four receptions for 144 yards and two TDs for Western Beaver. Tyson Florence added 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Beavers. Elijah Palmer-McCane ran 38 times for 220 yards and two touchdowns for Ellwood City.
Burrell 28, Yough 12 – Burrell (3-2, 2-0) jumped out a 14-0 lead in the first half and held on for an Allegheny Conference victory over Yough (1-4, 0-2). The Bucs have won three straight games after an 0-2 start and have outscored opponents 64-27 in that span.
Derry 35, Apollo-Ridge 21 — Ahmad Ward ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 4-yard pass from Mason Beeman as Derry (3-2, 2-0) beat Apollo-Ridge (1-4, 0-2) in Allegheny Conference play. Damauri Robinson added 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Derry. Karter Schrock threw for 179 yards and a touchdown and ran for 90 yards and a TD for Apollo-Ridge.
Steel Valley 35, Ligonier Valley 0 — Donald Barksdale ran for 221 yards and five touchdowns for No. 2 Steel Valley (3-1, 2-0) in its Allegheny Conference shutout over Ligonier Valley (2-3, 1-1). Jaden Cabbagestalk added 143 passing yards for Steel Valley.
Keystone Oaks 18, Sto-Rox 0 — In Century Conference play, Dimajio Locante rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns to lead Keystone Oaks (2-3, 1-1) to the shutout over Sto-Rox (1-3, 1-1).
McGuffey 26, Waynesburg 7 — Connor Crowe ran for 111 yards and a touchdown as McGuffey (3-2, 2-0) beat Waynesburg Central (4-1, 1-1) in Century Conference play. Dylan Droboj added two rushing touchdowns.
Washington 47, Brentwood 6 — Tristan Reed threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns as top-ranked Washington (5-0, 1-0) scored 41 first-half points in its Century Conference win against Brentwood (0-5, 0-2). Ruben Gordon caught two passes for 100 yards and a touchdown while teammate Eddie Lewis ran for three TDs for Washington. Washington outgained Brentwood, 401 yards to 133 yards.
Brownsville 36, Carrick 30 (OT) – Brownsville (1-4) snapped a 34-game losing streak with a nonconference victory over the Raiders (0-5). Carrick beat Brownsville, 42-8 last season.
