WPIAL Class 5A football roundup: Franklin Regional ends No. 5 Shaler’s unbeaten streak

Chase Lemke threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two TDs as Franklin Regional upset Class 5A No. 5 Shaler, 55-7, in nonconference football action Friday night.
Ayden Hudock caught six passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns, Nick Purdue ran for a 4-yard score, Austin Kerns returned a fumble 20 yards for a score, and Elijah Bennett had a 15-yard interception return for the Panthers (3-2).
Joey DeSabato caught a 38-yard TD pass from Keegan Smetanka for Shaler (4-1).
Bethel Park 50, Baldwin 13 — Tanner Pfeuffer threw for 198 yards and four touchdowns as Bethel Park (2-3, 1-0) downed Baldwin (1-4, 0-2) in Allegheny Six Conference play. Ja Vaughan Moore added 185 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Bethel Park. Andrew Sharp ran for 151 yards and both of Baldwin’s touchdowns.
Penn Hills 34, North Hills 9 — Julian Dugger threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 3 Penn Hills (4-1, 2-0) to the Northeast Conference win at North Hills (1-4, 0-2). Martel Palmer caught six passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns for Penn Hills.
Pine-Richland 50, Fox Chapel 0 — Seven different players scored touchdowns for No. 4 Pine-Richland (3-2, 1-1) in its Northeast Conference win over Fox Chapel (0-5, 0-1). Elijah Wents scored on a 21-yard interception return while Talan Hill-Ressler ran for 98 yards and a touchdown for Pine-Richland, which scored 42 first-half points.
Canon-McMillan 14, South Fayette 7 — Zyan Howard caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Mike Evans with 2:52 left in the game to give Class 6A No. 3 Canon-McMillan (4-1) the win against Class 5A South Fayette (2-3). Evans threw for 170 yards and ran for the Big Macs’ other touchdown. Nico Lamonde threw for 146 yards for South Fayette while teammate Zachary Welsh ran for 138 yards.
Allegany (Md.) 35, Albert Gallatin 0 — Brody Williams threw for one touchdown and ran for another as Allegany (Md.) (2-2) shut out Albert Gallatin (1-4) in nonconference play.
Moon 26, Mars 23 — Nick Prozzoly scored with 2:59 left in the fourth quarter to lift Class 5A Moon (2-3) to victory over Class 4A Mars (3-2). Moon led 19-0 after the first quarter before Mars scored the next 23 points.
