WPIAL Class A football roundup: Matt Sieg runs for 251 yards, 7 TDs for No. 1 Fort Cherry

Matt Sieg ran for 251 yards and seven touchdowns to lead top-ranked Fort Cherry a 55-22 win over Burgettstown (5-4, 4-3) in the Class A Black Hills Conference on Friday night.

Sieg scored on runs of 22, 19, 8, 20, 12, 11 and 5 yards. Ethan Faletto added 156 rushing yards and one touchdown for Fort Cherry (10-0, 7-0).

Burgettstown qualified as the fourth-place team in the Black Hills Conference.

Laurel 22, Shenango 7 — Luca Santini threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns as Laurel (4-6, 3-3) clinched a playoff berth with a Big 7 Conference win over Shenango (4-6, 2-4). Tyler Shearer caught three passes for 103 yards and a touchdown for Laurel. Sam Myers threw for 119 yards for Shenango, which was eliminated from playoff contention.

South Side 33, Rochester 7 — A.C. Corfield ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 51-yard scoring pass as No. 2 South Side (10-0, 6-0) beat Rochester (5-4, 3-3) in Big 7 Conference play. Ryan Navarra added two rushing touchdowns.

Avella 30, Chartiers-Houston 6 — In the Black Hills Conference, Avella (4-6, 2-5) defeated Chartiers-Houston (0-10, 0-7).

Cornell 40, OLSH 9 — In the Black Hills Conference, Christopher Jackson ran for one touchdown and returned a blocked punt 65 yards for another as No. 5 Cornell (8-2, 5-2) beat OLSH (4-6, 3-4) to clinch a playoff spot. Philip Barker and Walter Clarit each scored defensive touchdowns for the Raiders while Khylil Johnson rushed for 120 yards and one TD.

Greensburg Central Catholic 42, Leechburg 7 — Samir Crosby had a punt return touchdown, a kickoff return touchdown and a rushing touchdown as the Centurions (7-3, 5-1) capped the regular season with a victory over Leechburg (6-4, 3-3). GCC earned the Class A Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed, and Leechburg finished in fourth place. Tyree Turner intercepted two passes and had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown to Jackson McMullen for GCC. Aiden Allison added a rushing TD.

California 61, Bentworth 0 — Spencer Petrucci ran for 130 yards and four touchdowns as California (9-1, 7-0) clinched the Tri-County South title by beating Bentworth (3-7, 2-5). Jake Layhue added 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Jefferson-Morgan 42, Carmichaels 14 — Houston Guseman threw for one touchdown and ran for two more as Jefferson-Morgan (6-4, 5-2) beat Carmichaels (2-8, 1-6) in the Tri-County South.

Monessen 36, Beth-Center 16 — Tavian Taylor ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns to lead Monessen (4-6, 3-4) to the Tri-County South win at Beth-Center (3-7, 3-4). Tyvaughn Kershaw added 107 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Monessen, which claimed a playoff spot. Ethan Varesko ran for 213 yards and a touchdown for Beth-Center.

West Greene 45, Mapletown 19 — Billy Whitlach ran for 172 yards and three touchdowns as West Greene (8-2, 6-1) defeated Mapletown (3-7, 1-6) in Eastern Conference play. Lane Allison threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns for West Greene. A.J. Vanata tossed for 153 yards and two TDs for Mapletown.

Northgate 36, Frazier 6 — Northgate (5-5) defeated Frazier (1-9) in nonconference play.
