WPIAL clinched: Baseball playoff qualifiers and scenarios through May 5, 2025

The 2025 WPIAL baseball playoff field is growing and currently sits at 69 teams with three days left in the regular season.

The top four teams in each section qualify for the playoffs with all tied teams advancing if they split their head-to-head meetings.

Here is the latest list of teams that have earned district playoff berths through Monday, plus the playoff scenarios for those sections with playoff berths still up in the air.

The section series are South Fayette against Peters Township on Tuesday and Wednesday, Upper St. Clair hosting Chartiers Valley in a doubleheader Wednesday and Moon facing Trinity on Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Deer Lakes is 7-4 and Freeport and Ligonier Valley are 6-4 in the battle for third place. In the upcoming section series, Freeport plays Southmoreland (0-10) twice, Ligonier Valley finishes a suspended game then has another full game against Mt. Pleasant (8-2) and Deer Lakes has one more game Tuesday at Yough (2-9).

*Waynesburg Central Raiders

Seton LaSalle Rebels

• McGuffey (5-5) can clinch with one win in the section series against Seton LaSalle. Keystone Oaks (4-6) can clinch with a section series sweep of Washington and one section loss to McGuffey or a split vs. Washington and McGuffey gets swept. McGuffey and Keystone Oaks both qualify if they finish tied for fourth place.

• Chartiers-Houston (4-6) needs one win in its section series against California (5-5) to clinch a playoff berth. Frazier (4-7) can clinch with a victory at Beth-Center on Tuesday because the Commodores split their section series against both California and Chartiers-Houston.

• Laurel (5-5) needs to sweep two games from Northgate and have Freedom or New Brighton lose their final section game Tuesday in order to qualify.

*Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions

• If Jeannette (5-5) sweeps its section series against Jefferson-Morgan, the Jayhawks clinch. Any other result and Avella (6-6) clinches since the Eagles win the tiebreaker.

• Rochester (6-7) clinches a playoff berth with a win against visiting Aquinas Academy on Tuesday and two Union (7-5) losses to Winchester Thurston (8-4).

• Clairton (0-7) can clinch if it sweeps its section series against Monessen and beats Sewickley Academy.
