WPIAL clinched: Boys soccer playoff qualifiers and clinching scenarios through Oct. 7, 2025

Section play in the WPIAL boys soccer regular season is down to the final week with 51 teams having already qualified for the upcoming district postseason.

The top four teams in each section qualify for the district playoffs. All teams tied for a playoff spot where head-to-head does not break the tie all qualify for the postseason.

Here is the latest list of district teams that have qualified for the WPIAL boys soccer playoffs through Tuesday plus the remaining playoff picture in each of the four classifications.

Class 4A

10 of at least 12 teams have clinched

Section 1

Plum Mustangs

Norwin Knights

Central Catholic Vikings

• Hempfield (2-7) and Gateway (2-7) are tied for fourth place with one section match remaining. The Spartans visit the Gators on Thursday in a win-and-you’re-in game. If they tie, Gateway clinches.

Section 2

Peters Township Indians

Canon-McMillan Big Macs

Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils

Woodland Hills Wolverines

Section 3

Fox Chapel Foxes

Seneca Valley Raiders

North Allegheny Tigers

• Butler (2-7) closes out section play Thursday at Pine-Richland (1-7-1). North Hills (1-5-2) visits Seneca Valley (7-2) on Thursday and at Fox Chapel (7-0) on Tuesday.

Class 3A

14 of a possible 17 teams have clinched

Section 1

Hampton Talbots

Shaler Titans

Mars Fightin’ Planets

• Knoch (4-5-1) is in fourth place with two section matches remaining — at Mars (7-1-2) on Thursday and home to Hampton (8-0-2) on Tuesday. Indiana (3-6-1) is at Hampton on Thursday and home to Armstrong (1-9) on Tuesday. If the Knights and Little Indians finished tied, Knoch earns a playoff berth based on head-to-head over Indiana.

Section 2

Bethel Park Black Hawks

Thomas Jefferson Jaguars

Trinity Hillers

• Ringgold (7-5) is in fourth place and closes out section play at South Fayette (3-8) on Thursday and hosting Bethel Park (10-0-2) on Tuesday. Laurel Highlands (6-6) is a game back with games left at Bethel Park on Thursday and home to Albert Gallatin (0-10) on Tuesday. If they finished tied for fourth place, both teams will qualify.

Section 4

Class 2A

15 of a possible 16 teams have clinched

Section 1

Shady Side Academy Bulldogs

*Highlands (6-5-1) can clinch a playoff berth with one more win at Burrell (4-8) on Thursday or home to Shady Side Academy (8-3-1) on Tuesday. Freeport (5-6-1) needs wins at Deer Lakes (10-1-1) on Thursday and against Burrell on Tuesday and have Highlands lose both of their section matches to clinch. If the Golden Rams and Yellowjackets finish in a tie, Highlands wins the head-to-head tiebreaker over Freeport.

• Neshannock (3-4-1) and Freedom (3-5-1) are fighting for fourth place and a playoff spot. Neshannock is home to South Side (0-8) on Thursday and Sewickley Academy (6-2) on Monday. Freedom visits Eden Christian Academy (5-4) on Thursday. If the two teams finished tied, Freedom will qualify based on head-to-head tiebreaker.

Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers

Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions

Section 3

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers

Aquinas Academy Crusaders

• For the final two playoff berths, Brentwood (3-5-1) and Serra Catholic (3-6) have one section game remaining and Bishop Canevin (2-6) has two matches left. Brentwood visits Bishop Canevin on Thursday. Serra hosts Carlynton (1-7-1) on Thursday. Bishop Canevin hosts Brentwood on Thursday and has a makeup game against Aquinas Academy (7-1) to be announced.

Springdale Dynamos

Winchester Thurston Bears

Trinity Christian Falcons

• Riverview (2-5-1) is in fourth place with two section matches remaining — home to St. Joseph (1-7) on Thursday and Trinity Christian (4-3) on Monday. Jeannette (2-7) visits Trinity Christian on Thursday. St. Joseph visits Riverview on Thursday and Springdale (7-1) on Monday.
