The recruiting fall out of Dave Wannstedt leaving as Pitt head coach last month continued when Woodland Hills High School running back/defensive back Lafayette Pitts made a verbal commitment to Rutgers. Last summer, Pitts made a verbal agreement to make Pitt his college choice, but changed his mind when the Panthers and Coach Wannstedt went their separate ways.

After opening up the recruiting wars again in December, Pitts made official visits to Maryland, Iowa and spent this past weekend at Rutgers. He was supposed to make an official visit to Pitt this weekend, but made his decision for the Scarlet Knights on Monday night.

Pitts, who was recruited as a defensive back, selected Rutgers in part because of pair of former Pitt assistant coaches are now working for the Scarlet Knights, Frank Cignetti and Jeff Hafley.
