The WPIAL Class AA boys volleyball all-star first, second and third teams were announced between the Class AA and AAA championships games Thursday night at Baldwin High School.
Deer Lakes senior outside hitter Dan Hutchinson was selected the Most Valuable Player. It was his third all-star selection overall and second first-team honor (2017).
An ankle injury suffered in Tuesday's semifinal loss to Ambridge forced Hutchinson to miss Thursday's consolation match against Montour.
By making the WPIAL title game, Derry and Ambridge automatically qualified for the PIAA tournament, which begins Tuesday. Ambridge rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Derry, 3-2, to claim its seventh Class AA title and eighth WPIAL crown overall.
Montour qualified for states Thursday with its 3-1 win over Deer Lakes.
