WPIAL teams finish on podium at PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships

WPIAL champion Hempfield finished as the state runner-up as Western Pa. teams took four of the top six spots in the Class 3A Large Squad Division at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships on Saturday in Hershey.
Hempfield finished second to St. Hubert’s from Philadelphia. North Allegheny was third, Penn-Trafford was fourth and Baldwin finished sixth.
In Class 3A Small Squad, South Fayette finished fourth, North Hills was sixth, Pine-Richland ninth, Thomas Jefferson 10th and Seneca Valley 11th. Cumberland Valley took the title.
In Class 2A Large Squad, Neshannock finished third. Archbishop Ryan won the championship.
In Class 2A Small Squad, Ambridge finished fifth, Elizabeth Forward sixth and Central Valley ninth. Greater Johnstown finished first.
In the Co-ed Division, Butler took fourth. McDowell claimed the championship.
