Central Catholic surprised longtime boys basketball coach Chuck Crummie by naming the Alumni Hall court for him Friday night.

Crummie has coached the team for 37 seasons and owns 647 career wins, according to Central Catholic stats. The Vikings won the WPIAL Class 4A title in 2008 and were runners-up in 1987 and 2012.

Central Catholic was state runner-up in 1988.

His record on the now-named Chuck Crummie Court improved to 303-91 with Friday’s nonsection victory over Lincoln Park, 77-54. Crummie was honored during a pregame ceremony on senior night.

Crummie will retire later this year as an educator and athletic director at the school after more than four decades in the district.

Central Catholic (13-7) won the Section 1 title this season and should draw a favorable seed when the WPIAL Class 6A playoff bracket is announced Tuesday.

The Vikings finish their regular season by visiting Kennedy Catholic on Saturday and Fox Chapel on Monday.
