Pittsburgh high school roundup: Penn Hills tops Allderdice to improve to 7-0

Daivon Stephens had 21 points and Cory Fulton added 16 as Penn Hills continued its hot start to the season with a 54-40 victory over Allderdice in a nonsection boys basketball game Wednesday night.

Cameron Wiley had 12 points for the Indians (7-0), who are averaging nearly 70 points per game.

Jackson Blaufeld had 13 points for Allderdice (3-1).

Carrick 75, Brownsville 42 — Y'shua Bragg had 20 points to pace Carrick (7-0) in a nonsection victory. Shandon Marshall and Phil Pace each had 17 points for Brownsville (4-2).

Corbin, Ky. 78, Mars 76 — At the City of Palms Classic in Fort Meyers, Fla., Robby Carmody scored 30 points, but Class 5A No. 1 Mars (5-1) dropped a nonsection game.

Ellwood City 54, Steel Valley 42 — Anthony Roth had 25 points and surpassed 1,000 for his career at Ellwood City (5-2) won a nonsection contest.

Gateway 45, Altoona 32 — John Paul Kromka had 19 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks as Gateway (1-4) won in nonsection play.

Union 78, Mohawk 67 — Tre'von Charles had 32 points as Class A No. 3 Union (3-2) rolled to a nonsection win.

Girls basketball

Lake Highlands Prep, Fla. 60, Mt. Lebanon 48 — At the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Alyssa Hyland had 23 points to lead Mt. Lebanon (3-3), which fell short to Lake Highlands Prep, Fla.

Laurel Highlands 46, Uniontown 37 — Katie Miller had a game-high 12 points as Laurel Highlands (1-6, 1-1) won a Section 3-5A game.

Wrestling

Seneca Valley 67, Knoch 12 — Louis Newell earned his 126th career victory to set the school record as Seneca Valley (6-1, 2-0) won a Class AAA, Section 3A meet.
