2014-2015 WPIAL Boys Basketball Review

While WPIAL Class AA champion Aliquippa was the only district team to make it to Hershey to play for a state championship, they had to settle for state silver as District 12 teams from Philadelphia swept the boys PIAA hoops titles. But the Quips joined Chartiers Valley in Class AAAA, Indiana in Class AAA and Monessen in Class A as well deserved WPIAL basketball champs from the 2014-2015 campaign. Here is a look back at the 2014-2015 WPIAL Boys Basketball regular season standings, WPIAL postseason results and PIAA state playoff finals from a year ago.

2014-2015 BOYS BASKETBALL WPIAL PLAYOFF RESULTS:

Three district powers added to their collection while it was a historic gold run for the furthest most eastern school in the WPIAL. The Indiana Little Indians stunned many by winning the Class AAA championships, the schools first boys basketball title ever. Meanwhile it was add-on time for three storied programs as Aliquippa (AA) won its 11th, Monessen (A) its 7th and Chartiers Valley (AAAA) its 6th district boys basketball gold ball. 2014-2015 BOYS BASKETBALL PIAA PLAYOFF RESULTS:

Last year, the WPIAL sent three boys teams to Hershey where two of them came home with gold. This year, there was only one District 7 team playing in Chocolate Town. That team was Aliquippa and the WPIAL champs were undefeated and looking to make perfect history, until they tasted defeat for the first time with a loss to Conwell-Egan Catholic, leaving the Quips with silver and a final record of 29-1.
