It’s a shame one of these two teams had to lose. Both pitchers for Chartiers-Houston and Jefferson-Morgan pitched a gem, but it was the Rockets who walked away with the W in a tight Section 1 A softball game.

Senior Megan Kraushaar lead off for the Bucaneers, making contact with one of Maddie Ludrosky’s pitches, flying out to right field. She would be the only batter to make contact until she was up again in the 4th inning, as Ludrosky struck out the next 8 straight in the lineup.

In the 4th, senior Sabrina Stankus reached on an error, then advanced to 2nd after a long at-bat from senior Casey Craig who battled and walked with two outs. Ludrosky was able to shake it off and strike out the next batter to end the inning. Those would the only base-runners for the Buccaneers the entire game.

Freshman pitcher for the Buccanneers Kaitlyn Dittrich also pitched extremely well. She allowed one hit in the 1st to junior Camryn Dugan but got out of the inning without damage. The only other hit she would allow came in the bottom of the 6th, also from Dugan who drove in a run after junior Morgan Gamble reached on an error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from senior Reagan Rush.

Dugan’s RBI was the only one of the game and would be enough, as Ludrosky sat down her last 3 batters in order.

Ludrosky pitched 7 innings, struck out 12, walked 1 and gave up 0 hits and 0 runs. Dittrich took the loss, pitching 6 innings, striking out 2, walking 1, allowing 2 hits and 1 unearned run.

Jefferson-Morgan advances to 6-1 in A Section 1 conference, 8-2 overall. Chartiers-Houston is now 7-1 in the conference, 12-2 overall.
