First round

12-Upper St. Clair (10-9) vs. 5-Plum (17-3)

4 p.m. Tuesday at Gateway

Winner plays: Winner of 4-Moon (15-4)/13-Baldwin (11-8) on May 19 in quarterfinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Nico D’Orazio, Upper St. Clair; Max Vollmer, Plum

Extra bases: Upper St. Clair finished tied for third at 6-6 in Section 2 after sweeping Peters Township and Chartiers Valley late in the season. The Panthers averaged 6.7 runs in the regular season and allowed 5.0. … Plum finished second in Section 1 at 9-3. The Mustangs averaged 6.7 runs but allowed just 1.8 behind a strong rotation. Vollmer and Brennan Ryan are hitting near .500 for the Mustangs, and Braden Kemmerer paces the rotation.

2-Penn-Trafford (15-5) vs. 15-Fox Chapel (12-8)

4 p.m. Tuesday at Plum

Winner plays: Winner of 7-Franklin Regional (15-6)/10-South Fayette (11-9) on May 19 in quarterfinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Aiden Drotos, Penn-Trafford; Noah Hughes, Fox Chapel

Extra bases: The Warriors won their final five games to win Section 1-5A. They lost to Connellsville in the 2025 playoffs after winning their first WPIAL title in 2024. Senior pitcher Dom Delio is 6-1 with a 2.07 ERA. Junior Drotos is 5-2 with a 1.90 ERA. Sophomore Tanner Destefano is hitting .456 with 10 doubles, three home runs and 33 RBIs. Jordon White is hitting .484 with four doubles. … The Foxes finished fourth in Section 3. Milan Fluhme batted .373 with 17 stolen bases and 10 RBIs. Pitcher Blake Krushinski is 2-0 with a 1.75 ERA and Hughes is 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA.

Class 3A

First round

13-Quaker Valley (8-11) vs. 4-Freeport (17-1)

4 p.m. Tuesday at Deer Lakes

Winner plays: Winner of 5-South Park (14-5)/12-Keystone Oaks (9-9) on May 19 in quarterfinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Todd Kagle, Quaker Valley; Gage Blystone, Freeport

Extra bases: Quaker Valley finished fourth in Section 1 at 5-5. The Quakers were among the top-scoring teams in Class 3A at 9.0 runs per game. QV lost four of its last five games. Senior SS Kagle leads the team with a .410 average, senior CF Henry Zupanc is batting over .350, and sophomore infielder Rafe Furfari has hit over .300. … Freeport nearly completed an undefeated regular season before falling to Valley last week. The Yellowjackets had a strong pitching rotation behind Blystone, Owen Westendorf and Ashton Bricker. Trey Schreckengost hit .455 with 21 RBIs.

11-Burrell (10-9) vs. 6-Mohawk (14-5)

6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pullman Park, Butler

Winner plays: Winner of 3-Ellwood City (15-3)/14-Ligonier Valley (10-10) on May 19 in quarterfinals (time, site TBD)

Players to watch: Trey Coury, Burrell; Vinny Pezzuolo, Mohawk

Extra bases: Burrell placed third in Section 3 at 7-5. The Bucs averaged 5.5 runs and allowed 4.7 runs per game. They scored a key sweep over Deer Lakes late in the season. Coury hit near .500 for the Bucs during the regular season. … Mohawk tied for the Section 1 title at 8-2. The Warriors averaged 8.0 runs and won six of their last nine games. They are led by Pezzuolo (.574, 26 RBIs, 4 HRs) and Kamren O’Lare (.404) and pitcher Adam Deal (4-0, 1.68 ERA).
