A-K Valley high school roundup: Apollo-Ridge girls soccer tops East Allegheny

Having snapped a four-game losing streak earlier in the week, the Apollo-Ridge girls soccer team is streaking in the other direction as it enters the stretch run of the regular season.

Adeline Baustert scored what proved to be the winner, and Mayce Anthony tallied three assists to lead Apollo-Ridge (4-4-1, 3-4-1) past East Allegheny ( 3-7-2, 1-7-2), 3-0, in a key Section 2-AA matchup Saturday. Emily Bonelli and Katarina Yurjevich notched goals, and keeper Madison Galinac tallied six saves for Apollo-Ridge.

Plum 3, Thomas Jefferson 1 — Gina Proviano scored two first-half goals on her way to turning in a hat-trick performance as Plum got back into the win column with an important Section 3-AAA victory over Thomas Jefferson.

Hailey Krawczyk put Thomas Jefferson (5-9, 5-5) on the board when she scored on a header off a throw-in to cut Plum’s lead to 2-1. Marissa Liberto and Sophia Vargesko supplied the assists for Plum (10-3, 7-2).

Boys soccer

Kiski Area 1, Latrobe 1 — The Cavaliers’ Aaron Witt scored on a Tyler Ciuca assist in the fist half. Latrobe tied the scoree 20 minutes into the second half, then the game was called because of lighting with 9 minutes, 42 seconds remaining. Kiski Area (7-6-1, 6-5) and nonconference foe Latrobe (7-6-1, 7-5) decided to stop the game and declare a tie.
