Jaci Bowser and Ariana Kovach helped give new Highlands girls soccer coach Jenna Plummer her first win.

Bowser and Kovach each scored a pair of goals as the Golden Rams beat Quaker Valley, 4-3, Sunday in Ambridge’s kickoff tournament.

Kovach tied the game at 1-1 before Bowser came back with two consecutive first-half goals to give Highlands (1-1) a 3-2 lead going into halftime. Kovach scored the winner early in the second half, and the Rams defense stiffened in front of goalkeeper Samantha Gildner, who made 10 saves.

Boys soccer

Burrell 2, Steel Valley 2 — Ethan Croushore and Ryan Wurzer both scored off assists from Jake Guerrini as Burrell drew with Steel Valley (0-0-1) at the Chartiers-Houston tournament. Dom Ferra stopped six shots in goal for the Bucs (0-0-2).

Obama Academy 2, Highlands 0 — After scoring one goal on Saturday against tournament host Ambridge, the Rams were blanked by nonsection opponent Obama Academy on Sunday in the final match of the Ambridge tourney. Alex Woodworth scored both goals for Obama (2-0). Goalkeeper Gabe Anthony had 10 saves for Highlands (0-2).
