Baldwin grad Dorian Brown attends Steelers minicamp

Dorian Brown was a three-time all-conference running back at Baldwin who finished his varsity career with 3,293 yards and 33 touchdowns in 26 games, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.

The 5-foot-11, 208-pound Brown continued his football career with a record-setting performance at Ohio University.

Most recently, Brown was invited to attend the Steelers' rookie minicamp and was among approximately 55 players at the weekend event.

Brown ended his college career in grand fashion. He played in 12 games last season for Ohio, racking up 757 yards and 11 touchdowns.

In the Bahamas Bowl, Brown rushed for a season-high 152 yards and four touchdowns on just 12 carries against the Alabama-Birmingham, setting bowl records in rushing average and touchdowns while being named offensive player of the game.

Brown scored on runs of 74, 9, 25 and 14 yards.

“I give a lot of props to the O-Line because they did a tremendous job blocking and making it easy for me to run the ball,” said Brown after the 41-6 win against UAB. “It was very important (to go out on a high note). A.J. (Ouellette) wasn't feeling so well in the first quarter, so I had to step up and take my role.

“Being here, I think they treated us well. The Bahamas Bowl was a great experience. They did a good job helping us and feeding us, stuff like that. I had fun. I think it was a great experience.”

Brown, who turned 24 in April, ran for 100 yards three times during his 2017 redshirt senior season: 108 against Kent State and 148 against Toledo, to go along with his total in the bowl game.

At Baldwin, Brown, a 2013 graduate, was an honor roll student and racked up 7.4 yards per carry on the gridiron as a senior, when he scored 12 touchdowns.

He earned a bid to the Big 33 All-Star Classic, was named to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Terrific 25 and won the fifth annual high school programming competition at Robert Morris.
