Mike Decker is a computer education teacher at Woodland Hills High School. As basketball coach, he is part sociology teacher also. Decker is in his second season as Woodland Hills’ coach and has orchestrated one of the more impressive turnarounds in WPIAL basketball. If you listen to Decker, one of the biggest reasons for the Wolverines’ success is a change in culture.

NEW WPIAL FOOTBALL ALIGNMENT FOR 2012 and 2013

Major changes have taken place to the look of the WPIAL football conference alignment for the next two years, which was officially set with the approval of the WPIAL Board of Control Tuesday afternoon. The biggest change comes in Class AAAA and Class AAA where both classifications have shrunk from the standard four conferences to three conferences.

Things have been relatively easy for the Montour boys basketball team so far. The Spartans are 6-0 and have outscored opponents, 73-44.But things are about to get a lot tougher for Montour, as the Spartans are about to embark on a week-long schedule that is probably tougher than any other team’s in the WPIAL.

WPIAL Coaching Change – Shaler Football
Nearly a quarter of the WPIAL Class AAAA schools are looking for new football coaches. On Friday, Shaler joined the growing list of Altoona, Hempfield, Kiski Area, Mount Lebanon and Penn Hills without a gridiron boss after veteran coach Neil Gordon announced his resignation.

Major Football Conference Changes Coming for WPIAL?

A major change could be forthcoming starting this fall in WPIAL football. Wednesday, the WPIAL football steering committee proposed a football realignment for 2012 and 2013 that would include only three conferences.

Anthony who? When Anthony Dallier decided not to return for his senior year at North Allegheny, many wondered what would happen to the North Allegheny basketball team. Dallier was a 6-foot-6 senior guard-forward who was considered one of the top players in the WPIAL for the class of 2012.

PIAA Football Championship Recaps
The Clairton Bears went home Friday afternoon with ANOTHER PIAA championship, the third consecutive. But the Bears were the lone representative for the 2011 championships. It's only the second time in state playoff history and the first in over twenty years with only one WPIAL team on the field at Hersheypark Stadium.

Clairton’s Historic Ride Rolls On With Another Class A State Title
The Clairton Bears made history at Hersheypark Stadium, claiming their third consecutive PIAA title with a 35-19 victory over the Southern Columbia Tigers in the Class A Championship Game. With the win, the Bears win their 47th straight game, breaking the 46 game winning streak established by Braddock.
