The matchups have been set and the countdown begins for the ceremonial ribbon to be cut for the opening of the Highway to Heinz. While we wake up to a white out (What the…?), it was a knock out delivered by these football players from the final Friday of the regular season. Whether their team was chasing down a conference championship or trying to wrap up a playoff spot, these players below came up large. All 64 district high school football playoff berths have been determined, and only one conference is still up in the air going into the final day of the regular season on Saturday. Welcome to Week 9 of the high school football season. Friends of Chick’s Picks held the first annual Pumpkin Carve-nival this week to get in the Halloween spirit. The Pumpkin Carve-nival, as it had been dubbed, was not your average pumpkin-carving party. A busy Friday night of high school football action in Week Eight left only four WPIAL games to be played on the next to the last Saturday of the regular season. Two teams were looking to secure the top-seed in their conference while another was trying to secure a playoff berth. Some great action in Week 8 of the college football slate. Slippery Rock remains on top of the PSAC West and sends Lock Haven into the conference history books.
