Thomas Jefferson claims 1st WPIAL gymnastics title

Last year, the Thomas Jefferson gymnastics team came so close to a WPIAL title, they could taste it as they finished as runner-up to Moon by just one-tenth of a point. This year, the Jaguars got their WPIAL gold. And they did so with a couple of points to spare.

2015 Positive Athlete Awards On Wednesday, May 13th, 27 Western PA High School students were recognized at the John Heinz History Center by Hines Ward as “Positive Athletes” . In a close battle that came down to the end, Moon won the catfight with North Allegheny on Saturday to claim overall team gold in the 2014 WPIAL Girls Gymnastics championships. The Moon Tigers edged the North Allegheny Tigers 145.825 to 145.200 to claim a third consecutive WPIAL title. Here are the results from the championships at Moon High School. For the second consecutive year and the third time in school history, the Moon Tigers are wearing WPIAL Girls Gymnastics Gold after they captured the team title in their own gym Saturday afternoon. The win for Moon is their third district crown in six years. North Allegheny continued its domination in district girls gymanstics Saturday at Moon High School. The Tigers captured a third consecutive WPIAL gymnastics championship and their sixth crown in the last eight years. In 30 years of team titles in the WPIAL, North Allegheny has now won gold 19 times. Here are the individual winners from the 2011 WPIAL Girls Gymnastics Championships.
