Hampton girls hockey players spring into action

One of the biggest challenges for the Hampton skaters in the PIHL girls league is something most athletes take for granted.

Franklin Regional’s junior varsity hockey team captured the PIHL’s Tier I JV championship March 25 with a victory over Mt. Lebanon at Ice Castle. The Panthers, who were 2-11-3 in the regular season, went on a run in the playoffs, beating Pine-Richland in the quarterfinals and North Allegheny in the semifinals to reach the finals.
