District College Football Recap for Saturday, October 17th

On a cold day in the middle of October, playe3d in wind, rain, sleet and even snow showers, the college football season continued in Western Pa. Clarion took another step towards a magical season in the PSAC, while IUP and Slippery Rock both posted wins, leading to next week’s matchup. Here are recaps of ALL the games: Bryant 38 – Duquesne 17 Dalton Easton threw for a career high 330 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Bulldogs snapped a 3 game losing skid. Ricardo McCray added 118 rushing yards and a score, his 11th 100 yard game of his career.

District College Football Preview for Saturday, October 17th

The middle of October brings cooler weather, shorter days and heated play on the district college football front.  In the NEC Duquesne looks to hold on to the top spot, while in the PSAC Clarion looks to accomplish a record noy oosted by the Golden Eagles in over 30 years.  The PAC has a two way battle at 4-0 from outside the keystone state, while in New Wilminton Westminster is off to their best start since joining the conference.  Here are previews of ALL the games:

District College Football Recap for Saturday, October 10
Week 6 of the district college football slate saw some blow out wins again. In the PSAC, Clarion is off to their best start in over 30 years, while Slippery Rock used balance to get back into the West Division race. In the PAC, both Thomas More and Case Western remain un beaten, while Westminster is off to a strong start in the conference. Here are recaps of ALL the games: Sacred Heart 26 – Robert Morris 13 The Pioneers took advantage of 8 Colonials turnovers to claim the win. RMU did not score an offensive touchdown and was held to minus 7 yards rushing.

The first Saturday in October brought cold and wet weather to Western Pennsylvania. On a day not fit for man or beast….or golfers, it didn’t bother the area football teams and offenses in general in putting up points. A top 25 showdown highlighted play in the PAC, while 3 local teams remain tied after 2 weeks in the PSAC West. Here are recaps of ALL THE GAMES. Clarion 41 – Mercyhurst 27 Connor Simmons threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for 2 more as the Golden Eagles go to 5-0. Simmons threw for 431 yards as Clarion scored 17 unanswered points in the second half.

District College Football Preview for September 26th

Week 4 of the local college football season sees conference play open in the PSAC. League games also take place in the PAC, while NEC teams wait one more week. Four teams in the PSAC West enter conference play unbeaten, only one can advance to to State Title Game. This week is step one of a tough road ahead for all eight teams. Here are capsules of ALL the games: Clarion(3-0) at Gannon(3-0)   Noon QB Connor Simmons has thrown for 10 scores in the first 3 games. Simons also leads the West Division inpassing at 288 yards per game. Clarion defeated 59-6 last week. The Golden Eagles defense forced 14 turnovers, including 5 last week.

District College Football Recap for Saturday, September 19th

Week three of the district college football slate saw a lot of lopsided scores and not a lot of good games. Here are recaps of all the games: Dayton 24 – Duquesne 13 Connor Kacsor ran for 244 yards and three second half touchdowns on 40 carries as the Flyers go to 2-0. The Dukes led 13-3 in the second on Sam Martello’s fumble recovery in the end zone and Dillon Buechel’s 26 yard pass to Wayne Capers(Char Valley). The junior QB from Montour threw for 195 yards. Capers led with 6 catches for 75 yards. Duquesne falls to 2-1.

The weather should be great for week 3 of the district college football slate. It’s the fibal week of crossover play in the PSAC, while some good games take place in the PAC. Here are previews of ALL the games: Duquesne(2-0) at Dayton(1-0)   1pm The Dukes look to go 3-0 for the first time since 2002. Duquesne defeated Bucknell 26-7 last week. QB Dillon Buechel(Montour) threw three touchdown passes. Freshman RB PJ Fulmore(Cardinal Wurhl North Catholic) has led the Dukes in rushing in both games. The Flyers were off last week after defeating Robert Morris 27-24 in week one action. Danny Leach had two interceptions, one a 93 yard Pick 6 in the win.  Duquesne leads the series 7-5.

District College Football Recap for September 5th

The local college football season kicked off Saturday with some good matchups and some outstanding performances by WPIAL alum.  Here are recaps of ALL the games Duquesne 47 – Kentucky Christian 7 Freshman PJ Fulmore ran for 128 yards to help lead the Dukes to the home win. The former North Catholic star carried 18 times, Klartel Claridy added 105 yards and a score. Zach DeNardo scored twice for the winners. Dillion Buechel (Montour) was 12 of 16 for 159 yards and a score. Wayne Capers(Char Valley) was the leading receiver with four catches for 75 yards.
