Central Catholic rising senior Angelo Pugliano made a verbal commitment to play football at Western Michigan on Monday afternoon.

Pugliano (6-foot-2, 280 pounds), a defensive tackle, wrapped up his junior campaign with coaches first-team all-state honors after helping the Vikings capture a WPIAL Class 6A championship and PIAA runner-up finish.

Pugliano chose the Broncos over offers from Duquesne, Robert Morris, Miami (Ohio), Princeton and Eastern Michigan, among others.

Last season, Pugliano had 36 tackles, including 10 for a loss.

Western Michigan finished 6-7 overall last season, including a 5-3 mark in the MAC, good for fifth place.
