The Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association poll for Week 2 has North Allegheny again at the top spot in Class AAA, while Ambridge owns the No. 1 ranking in Class AA.

The Bridgers topped the Tigers in a one-game championship final at Saturday's season-opening North Allegheny tournament.

Penn-Trafford follows North Allegheny at No. 2 on the Class AAA list, while Seneca Valley checks in at No. 3. Both the Warriors and Indians made it to the quarterfinals of the North Allegheny tournament.

Rounding out the Class AAA top 10 are Butler at No. 4 followed by Bethel Park, Hempfield, Pine-Richland, Latrobe, Norwin and Shaler.

Deer Lakes is off to a fast start with wins over Class AAA Armstrong and Plum. The Lancers are No. 2 in this week's Class AA poll, and Section 3 rival Derry is No. 3.

Montour and Seton LaSalle occupy the No. 4 and 5 spots, respectively, followed by defending WPIAL champion and PIAA runner-up Beaver County Christian, Bishop Canevin, Thomas Jefferson, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Obama Academy.

Trinity also received votes for the top 10 in AA.

The top 10 rankings for both AAA and AA are based on polling of all 40 boys coaches in the WPIAL.

A new feature in connection with the top 10 poll is Players of the Week honors. Each coach nominates two players from teams other than his or her own who have impressed with their play.

In Class AAA, recognition goes to North Allegheny setter A.J. Schmmidt and Hempfield right-side/setter Logan Horwatt.

Deer Lakes outside hitter Tyler Osselborn and Ambridge outside hitter Liam Buck are the selections for Class AA.
