Knoch sophomore Laura Greb will have an opportunity to defend her WPIAL Class AA tennis championship.

Greb advanced to the championship match after defeating Beaver’s Devyn Campbell in straight sets in the semifinals of the WPIAL singles tournament Thursday at Shady Side Academy. She will face Sewickley Academy’s Simran Bedi, a straight-sets winner over Knoch’s Brooke Bauer, in the championship match Friday.

Bauer and Campbell will face off in the consolation match, with the third and final spot at November’s PIAA championships in Hershey up for grabs.

In the Class AAA singles tournament at North Allegheny, North Allegheny’s Ashley Huang and Baldwin’s Bethany Yauch advanced to the championship match after beating Bethel Park’s Mia Gorman and Mars’ Amelia Haley, respectively, in the semifinals. Huang finished third at the 2017 WPIAL championships before going on to win the PIAA title.

Gorman and Haley will play in the Class AAA consolation match.

Both the Class AA and Class AAA championship and consolation matches will take place Friday at Shady Side Academy.
