Final 2024 PIAA girls basketball results

The streak of WPIAL teams winning at least one PIAA girls basketball championship has hit six years in a row.

In fact, in this century, District 7 girls basketball teams have only failed twice to win a state championship.

It last happened in 2017 when three WPIAL teams reached Hershey, but lost in the first year of six classifications.

It also happened in 2008 when two D-7 teams fell in the PIAA championship game.

Keeping the streak alive this year was Blackhawk, the WPIAL Class 4A runner-up.

The Cougars capped off a 27-3 season with another outstanding defensive effort in beating District 2 champion Scranton Prep.

Blackhawk only allowed an average of 33 points per game in five PIAA playoff wins.
