Liam Wiseman hit a significant milestone for the Fox Chapel hockey team. During the Foxes’ 6-5 loss to Canon-McMillan on Nov. 4 at the Alpha Ice Complex, Wiseman scored three goals to reach the 100-goal mark for his career.

Fox Chapel’s hockey team is off to a 3-2 start in the PIHL’s Class 2A. The Foxes have scored five or more goals in four of their past five games.

Soccer teams ousted

The Fox Chapel boys and girls soccer programs both closed out their seasons in the PIAA quarterfinals.

The boys lost 2-1 to Warwick in the Class 4A quarterfinals. Carson Krushansky scored the goal for Fox Chapel (13-5-2).

On the girls side, the Foxes lost 2-1 to Lower Dauphin in the Class 3A quarterfinals. Emily McKee scored the goal for Fox Chapel, which was the WPIAL runner-up.

Lagerquist honored

Britta Lagerquist, a senior at Grove City College and Fox Chapel graduate, was named to the All-PAC team as an honorable mention for women’s soccer. Lagerquist also was chosen to the PAC sportsmanship team.

Lagerquist has three goals and five assists for the Wolverines this season. Grove City won the PAC title with a 13-3-3 recordseason. The Wolverines were scheduled to open the NCAA Division III soccer championships Nov. 16 at Misericordia. The results from the match were too late for this edition.

Gwin helps Appalachian State

The Appalachian State men’s cross-country team recently clinched its second consecutive conference title. Fox Chapel graduate and Mountaineer freshman Rowan Gwin didn’t place in the top five for the team but turned in a solid performance.

Gwin finished the 8K race in 26 minutes, 36.3 seconds to place 38th. Appalachian State’s top six runners at the event finished in the top 10.

Zureikat draws interest

Harran Zureikat, a junior at Fox Chapel, recently attended a University of Wisconsin game on a recruiting visit. Zureikat, who is one of the top-ranked kickers in his class, has drawn interest from schools all over the country.

Zureikat has received an offer from Syracuse.
