Palmer Jackson didn’t participate in his team’s section match against Penn Hills on Wednesday.

So, the Franklin Regional senior decided to play an 18-hole round at Meadowink Golf Course.

All he did was break a 30-year record. Jackson shot a 10-under par 62 to break the course record of 63 shared by Meadowink pro Tom Tarquinio and Indiana Country Club pro Dan Braun.

“I’m really proud of him,” Tarquinio said. “He almost broke the record a few weeks ago. He’s a great kid and he’s going places.”

Jackson said he knew he had a shot at the record after shooting a 7-under 29 on the front nine. Meadowink is 6,239 yards long.
