Gateway’s Logan Memije wins another section doubles title

Gateway’s Logan Memije won a boys tennis section doubles title for the third straight year, teaming with Troy Boden to defeat Colin Stalnaker and Sanshiro Ogawa of Franklin Regional in the Section 1-3A finals, 6-4, 7-5, on Wednesday.

In the third-place match, Franklin Regional’s Prem Nadesan and Arnesh Paura beat Latrobe’s Grant Gardiner and Eli McKeever, 6-3, 6-3. The top four teams advance to the WPIAL tournament.

Section 2-3A – Shivum Telang and Ronit Ginde defeated Ashwin Sudhakar and Matt Kampi, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, in a battle of North Allegheny teammates in the section doubles finals. The second singles finals was also a matchup of Tigers with Advaita Sircar topping Evan Kaufman. Cal Johnson and Jaxon Hittle of Mars defeated Ryan Moore and Arav Amin of Pine-Richland for third place.

Section 4- 3A – Top-seeded Luca Ritovoi and Noah Klaber of Mt. Lebanon claimed the section title with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Carter Lichtman and Myles Owens of Upper St. Clair. South fayette’s Harshal Pallerla and Ani Garimella beat Bethel Park’s Gavin Hughes and Caden Smith in a three-setter for third place.

Section 1-2A – Ravi Stanger and Soham Maiti defeated Syed Najih Haider and Bodhan Hula, 6-2, 6-4, in a matchup of Winchester Thurston teammates in the finals. Greensburg Salem’s Silas Morris and Tommy Shrum topped Indiana’s Michael Dubetsky and Evan Riffer for third place, 6-0, 6-1.

Section 3-2A – Alex Weber and Kenny Splane won a battle of North Catholic teammates, defeating Jake Sinclair and Paddy McCabe, 6-2, 6-4, in the finals. Patrick Connors and Sutton Hoehl beat Dom Ditano and Carter Hawes in a matchup of Quaker Valley teammates for third place.

Section 4-2A – Sean Perez and Aiden Desanzo of Beaver defeated defending sections champs Cody Clayton and Hunter Hazelwood of Central Valley in a three-set section final, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0. Ben Crefeld and Max Sprinker beat Mike Lanigan and Will Brown in an all-Blackhawk third-place match.
