Reigning state champion Logan St. John Kletter of Mt. Lebanon was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania girls cross country athlete of the year, extending the WPIAL’s winning streak to four.

Brownsville’s Jolena Quarzo won the state award last season, and Moon’s Mia Cochran was a two-time winner for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years.

A North Carolina recruit, Kletter won the PIAA Class 3A title last fall in 18 minutes, 13 seconds while leading Mt. Lebanon to an eighth-place finish in the team standings. The senior later placed fourth at the Foot Locker Northeast regional and finished 34th at nationals.

Kletter is the first Mt. Lebanon girl to win the award but not the first Blue Devils runner overall. She joins 2020 graduate Patrick Anderson, who won the boys award as a junior and senior.

Organizers will announce this year’s boys winner later this month.
