Herald spotlight athlete: Fox Chapel’s Robby Shymansky

Robby Shymansky, a senior on the Fox Chapel tennis team, won his second straight WPIAL Class AAA singles title last month. He also finished undefeated in home matches through his four years. He has helped the Foxes to a perfect record this season. He will attend Yale in the fall.

With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal nearing the end of their careers, who do you see as the dominant players in tennis?
I think Dominick Thiem will dominate on clay, and Stefano Tsitsipas will be a force, too.
Do you have a specific ritual before a match?
No. I just do some stretching.
If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?
Iceland
What’s your favorite sport to attend or watch on TV?
Football
If you could go to Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open or the U.S. Open, what would be your pick?
The Australian Open.
What TV show makes you want to change the channel?
Any reality show.
What movie could you watch over and over?
“Miracle.”

I really don’t watch much baseball at all.
