Adam Lauer, a junior on the Shady Side Academy golf team, is hoping to help lead the Indians to their third straight section title. They have also made it to the WPIAL finals two years in a row. Lauer led the team in low stroke average as a freshman and sophomore. He is also on the SSA cross country and track teams. Here’s a closer look at this week’s Spotlight Athlete:
How old were you when you began golfing?
I think 8 or 9 was when I began to get serious about it. Before that, I used to play with my parents.
What’s the closest you’ve ever come to a hole-in-one?
I actually did get a hole-in-one about a year and a half ago.
If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?
Did you go on vacation this summer and, if so, where?
I’m in Japan as we speak.
What would be harder for you — no texting for a week or no TV?
What TV show makes you want to change the channel?
“Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
What movie could you watch over and over?
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Who is your favorite Pittsburgh athlete?
Who makes the best pizza around?
Who is your favorite golfer?
What would make up your favorite all-time meal?
BBQ pulled pork with extra sauce, mac n’ cheese and mashed potatoes.
What junk food do you have a weakness for?
If you were on “Dancing With the Stars,” who would you choose as your partner?
People would be surprised to know that you…
Played the violin.
