Sam Weir scored 12 points as North Catholic clinched a share of the Section 1-4A girls basketball title with a 75-23 victory over Derry on Thursday night.

Harmony Jones added 11 and Brady Wehner finished with 10 for North Catholic (19-3, 13-1). Jane Huss scored eight points to lead Derry (4-16, 1-13).

Oakland Catholic 54, Burrell 31 – Alayla Bivins scored 22 points, Makayla Canty added 12 and Oakland Catholic (18-3, 13-1) clinched a share of the Section 1-4A title with North Catholic. Jules Fisher scored 14 for Burrell (13-9, 8-6).

Aliquippa 57, Rochester 34 – Carla Brown scored 14 points, Yaree Carter had 13 and Aunesty Johnson added 12 as Aliquippa (15-4, 9-1) clinched a tie with Neshannock for the Section 1-2A title. Tia Yellock scored 16 points for Rochester (9-11, 5-5).

Aquinas Academy 52, Western Beaver 26 – Elliot Keverline scored 18 points and Kay Chufo had 12 for Aquinas Academy (13-7, 10-3) in a Section 1-A win. Liz Squicquero scored nine points for Western Beaver (5-17, 2-12).

Baldwin 62, Thomas Jefferson 59 – Lynsey Bernotas led Baldwin (13-8, 8-4) with 23 points and Julianne Ott followed with 17 in a Section 4-5A win. Maggie Spell scored 26 points and Kaylee DeAngelo had 15 for Thomas Jefferson (17-4, 9-3).

Beaver 61, Hampton 36 – Annsley Baker scored 26 points to lead Beaver (16-4, 10-2) to a Section 2-4A win. Harper Gibbons scored 14 points for Hampton (10-10, 5-7), which ended up tied with Hopewell for fourth place in the section, earning a playoff spot.

Belle Vernon 52, Southmoreland 21 – Aubrey Brown scored 15 points for Belle Vernon (11-11, 8-6) in a Section 3-4A win. Ashley Seder scored nine points for Southmoreland (3-17, 1-12).

Bishop Canevin 57, Mapletown 20 – Isabella Sysak and Kya Cooley scored 16 points apiece and Natalie Kirsch added 10 for Bishop Canevin (11-9, 6-8) in a Section 2-A win. Treslee Weston scored eight points for Mapletown (3-19, 1-13).

Blackhawk 72, Latrobe 56 – Ava Pagani led with 20 points and Aubree Hupp followed with 17, including her 1,000th career point, in a nonsection win for Blackhawk (19-2). Carly Berk scored 21 points and Megan Maiers had 12 for Latrobe (10-10).

Burgettstown 54, Carlynton 18 – Paige Klodowski scored 22 points and Savanna Rush added 16 to lead Burgettstown (8-13, 4-6) to a Section 2-2A win over Carlynton (8-12, 2-8), which was eliminated from playoff contention.

Butler 50, North Allegheny 41 – Amelia McMichael scored 26 points to lead Butler (11-9, 6-4) to a Section 1-6A win. Leah Skewers and Rosalia Varlotta scored 10 points apiece for North Allegheny (9-11, 5-5).

Canon-McMillan 62, Connellsville 32 – Sam Miller scored 18 points as Canon-McMillan (12-8, 6-4) clinched third place in Section 2-6A. Lauren Borella added 11 and Madison Clair had 10 for the Big Mcs. Elizabeth Painter led Connellsville (3-17, 0-10) with 12 points.

Carmichaels 35, Jefferson-Morgan 33 – Jaelyn Carter scored 15 points as Carmichaels (3-18, 3-7) clinched a playoff berth in Section 3-2A win. Brelynn Wood scored nine points and Bailey Cervone had eight for Jefferson-Morgan (1-19, 0-9).

Central Valley 53, Hopewell 47 – Nyah Hayes scored 21 points and Emma Brown added 15 to lead Central Valley (13-7, 7-4) to a Section 2-4A win. Caylee Sundy and Avery Boyd scored 14 points apiece for Hopewell (8-12, 5-6), which ended up tied with Hampton for fourth place to clinch a playoff spot.

Cheswick Christian Academy 38, Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf 13 – Abby Louis scored 20 points to lead Cheswick Christian Academy (5-2) to a win in the Southwestern Christian Athletic Conference.

Clairton 72, Monessen 48 – Iyanna Wade led with 44 points, Jamiya Childs followed with 16 and Karma Fuqua added 12 for Clairton (16-4, 12-2) in a Section 2-A win. Madison Johnson scored 31 points and Na’Jaziah Carter had 17 for Monessen (5-14, 2-12).

Geibel Catholic 67, Serra Catholic 53 – Emma Larkin scored 33 points and Janiah Darnell added 14 to lead Geibel Catholic (21-1, 13-1) to a Section 2-A win. Abby Genes scored 30 points and Bella Dumbroski had 13 for Serra Catholic (12-9, 10-4).

Greensburg Central Catholic 61, Deer Lakes 21 – Erica Gribble scored 27 points and Jayla Peterson added 22 to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (17-4, 12-2) to a Section 2-3A win. Anna Clark scored 11 points for Deer Lakes (13-8, 8-6).

Greensburg Salem 41, West Mifflin 39 – Regan Kerr hit a driving layup with 3.5 seconds left to lead Greensburg Salem (13-8, 6-6) to a Section 2-5A win. Blessing Gantt scored 20 points and Mya Heasley added 10 for the Golden Lions. Savaughn Wimbs scored 17 points to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career for West Mifflin (2-15, 0-10).

Highlands 69, Valley 46 – Tyarah Woody scored 21 points, Bella Bonnett followed with 17 and Brooke Walker added 16 to lead Highlands to a Section 1-4A win, clinching a playoff spot. The Golden Rams (6-14, 5-9) trailed 31-26 at the half before going on a 31-5 run in the third quarter. Trinity Ingram scored 18 points and Janelle Norman had 17 for Valley (2-19, 1-13).

Hillel Academy 33, Nazareth Prep 20 – Sima Reinherz scored 12 points to lead Hillel Academy. Laurai Jones led Nazareth Prep with 13 points.

Keystone Oaks 44, Washington 29 – Laney Wagner scored 22 points as Keystone Oaks (18-1, 11-1) clinched a tie for the Section 3-3A title. Olivia Woods scored 17 points for Washington (7-13, 4-8), which was eliminated from playoff contention.

Knoch 44, Freeport 13 – Neah Ewing scored 14 points and Jada Burgard added 12 to lead Knoch (11-10, 10-4) to a Section 1-4A win over Freeport (6-15, 5-9).

Laurel 52, Freedom 38 – Shyan Tindall scored 18 points and Maelee Hill added 10 to lead Laurel (9-13, 5-5) to a Section 1-2A win. MacKenzie Mohrbacher scored 14 points and Olivia Henderson had 11 for Freedom (5-16, 2-8).

Laurel Highlands 53, Yough 18 – Taylor Schwertlfeger scored 12 points and Aierra Jenkin added 10 to lead Laurel Highlands (16-5, 11-3) to a Section 3-4A win. Hailey Bock scored six points for Yough (11-11, 5-9).

Ligonier Valley 59, South Allegheny 51 – Adleigh Myers and Sydnee Foust scored 15 points apiece and Bella Pacienza added 12 as Ligonier Valley (7-13, 5-8) clinched a playoff spot in Section 2-3A. Ella Lotz scored 20 points and Jax Farnan had 17 for South Allegheny (4-16, 4-9), which needs a win over Steel Valley and a Ligonier Valley loss to Avonworth on Friday to also make the playoffs.

McKeesport 56, Kiski Area 48 – Jessica Miller led with 20 points, Emily Eisenberg and Adriana Allison followed with 11 points apiece and Sunny Harper added 10 to push McKeesport (7-15, 3-9) to a Section 2-5A win. Alison Pencak scored 11 points and Maddie Joyce had 10 for Kiski Area (10-11, 4-8), which was eliminated from playoff contention.

Moon 58, Montour 45 – Jaedin Griggs led with 26 points and Maria Depner followed with 20 to push Moon (11-7, 6-5) past Montour (8-13, 3-9) in a Section 3-5A win.

Mt. Pleasant 35, Ringgold 29 – Ryleigh Drzal scored 14 points, Morgan Gesinski added 11 and Mt. Pleasant (5-15, 5-9) clinched a playoff spot in Section 3-3A. Jada Gernot scored 11 and Alayna Macioce added 10 for Ringgold (7-15, 1-13).

Neshannock 75, Shenango 17 – Led by 17 points from Payton Newman, 14 from Callie Biondi and 11 from Nina Medure, Neshannock (20-2, 9-1) tied Aliquippa for the Section 1-2A title. Ella Ferrell scored 10 for Shenango (1-19, 0-10).

Norwin 54, Hempfield 43 – Kendall Berger scored 25 points as Norwin (12-7, 8-1) clinched sole possession of the Section 2-6A title. Allison Cervola and Ava Shipman scored 10 points apiece for Hempfield (10-11, 2-8).

OLSH 69, Mohawk 12 – Claudia Ierullo led with 20 points and Leah Parker followed with 14 for OLSH (19-2, 14-0) in a Section 1-3A win. Reagan Magno scored six points for Mohawk (6-15, 4-10).

Plum 46, Fox Chapel 37 – Led by 15 points from Tamia West, 14 from Serena Carnahan and 10 from Riley Stephans, Plum (9-11, 7-5) picked up a Section 1-5A win. Emily McKee scored 10 for Fox Chapel (12-8, 7-5).

Quaker Valley 67, Ellwood City 53 – Mimi Thiero scored a career-high 38 points to lead Quaker Valley (13-8, 10-4) in a matchup of playoff teams in Section 1-3A. Keira Watson added 12 for the Quakers. Kayla Jones scored 18, Caitlin Kreitzer followed with 17 and Delaney Sturgeon chipped in 12 for Ellwood City (13-8, 8-6).

Seneca Valley 50, Pine-Richland 45 – Gracie Cato hit four 3-pointers and finished with 27 points as Seneca Valley (15-5, 10-0) finished Section 1-6A play undefeated. Cate Gentile scored 18, Rebekah Shaffer added 13 and Zoe Cook chipped in 10 for Pine-Richland (7-14, 6-4).

Seton LaSalle 60, McGuffey 28 – Addie Lonergan scored 22 points and Tiara Curry followed with 18 as Seton LaSalle (15-5, 11-1) clinched a tie for the Section 3-3A title. Lexi Ewig and Taylor Schumacher scored eight points each for McGuffey (13-8, 7-5).

Sewickley Academy 36, Leechburg 35 – Grace Jardini scored 20 points and Layla Miller added 10 as Sewickley Academy (5-14, 4-10) clinched the fifth and final playoff spot in Section 1-A. Addie Zanotto hit four 3-pointers and scored 21 points for Leechburg (2-17, 2-12).

Shady Side Academy 55, East Allegheny 14 – Cassie Sauer scored 16 points and Makiyah Mitchell added 12 for Shady Side Academy (21-0, 14-0) in a Section 2-3A win. Ronniya Lawrnce scored 11 points for East Allegheny (1-18, 0-14).

South Park 47, Elizabeth Forward 37 – Nika Contakos led with 16 points and Bella Stromberg followed with 11 to push South Park (14-5, 11-2) to a Section 3-4A win. Michelle Jellison and Hayley Bennett scored 10 points apiece for Elizabeth Forward (17-4, 13-1).

South Side 45, Fort Cherry 44 – Ashyton Michael scored 19 points and Ariel Polechor had 10 as South Side (16-5, 9-1) earned a tie for the Section 2-2A title. Brooke Cornali scored 20 points and Isabella Bianchini had 10 for Fort Cherry (17-2, 9-1).

St. Joseph 46, Springdale 21 – Kasey Cienik scored 12 points to help St. Joseph (15-6, 11-3) to a Section 1-A win. Ashlyn Ferderbar scored 10 to lead Springdale (11-11, 8-6).

Trinity 51, Uniontown 25 – Bentley Layhew scored 14 points and Gabby Rieg added 10 to help Trinity (10-9, 5-7) to a Section 4-5A victory. Emily Myers led Uniontown (5-16, 1-11) with 14 points.

Union 79, Eden Christian 12 – Mia Preuhs led with 16 points, Kylie Fruehstorfer followed with 15 and Olivia Benedict and Maddie Settle added 11 points apiece for Union (20-0, 13-0) in a Section 1-A win. Emmie Smith scored eight points for Eden Christian (5-14, 4-9).

Upper St. Clair 65, Mt. Lebanon 35 – Rylee Kalocay scored 24 points and Ryan Prunzik added 12 for Upper St. Clair (15-5, 8-2) in a Section 2-6A win. Cali Green scored nine points to lead Mt. Lebanon (12-9, 5-5).

Waynesburg 44, Charleroi 26 – Peyton Cowell scored 18 points to lead Waynesburg (8-12, 3-8) to a Section 3-3A win. Eden Smith scored 18 points for Charleroi (0-22, 0-12).

West Allegheny 54, New Castle 19 – Leila Marchinsky scored 12 points and Emma Ruperto had 10 for West Allegheny (11-10, 4-8) in a Section 3-5A win. Rihanna Boice scored 10 points for New Castle (8-14, 0-12).

West Greene 55, Avella 52 (OT) – Kendra Tharp scored 26 points and Madelyn Roberts added 15 to push West Greene (15-7, 8-6) to a Section 2-A win. Ava Frank scored 27 points for Avella (9-13, 4-10), which was eliminated from playoff contention.

Winchester Thurston 60, Riverview 39 – Sky Still scored 21 points, Jasmine Hollins had 17 and Aleah Cooper added 13 as Winchester Thurston (18-2, 10-0) clinched sole possession of the Section 4-2A title. Isabel Chaparro scored 14 points and Juliette Brun had 10 for Riverview (13-3, 8-1).

Boys basketball

Cheswick Christian Academy 73, Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf 29 – Joseph Rosio scored 23 points, Brady Rochkind added 22 and Eli Wojcik chipped in 11 as Cheswick Christian Academy (10-0) finished its division schedule undefeated in the Southwestern Christian Athletic Conference. Caeser Trice scored 17 for the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (0-9).

Northgate 76, Brentwood 54 – Kaden Kemp scored 19 points, Desmond Williams followed with 18 and Tylan Daniels contributed 14 to send Northgate (12-8, 9-2) to a Section 2-2A win. Forrest Betz scored 18, Aidan Barker added 11 and Colton Rosing put up 10 for Brentwood (8-12, 5-7).

OLSH 54, South Side 26 – Tiernan McCullough scored 16 points and Jake Johnston added 15 to help OLSH (17-5, 12-2) to a Section 4-2A win. Andrew Corfield scored 12 for South Side (11-11, 5-9).

Bishop McCort 6, Baldwin 3 – Mark Pazniak scored a hat trick and Sammy Treager had two goals and two assists to lead Bishop McCort (7-9-1) to a Class 2A win. Trevor Brain had a goal and an assist for Baldwin (3-11-2).

Burrell 2, Deer Lakes 1 (OT) – Luke Mink scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime to lead Burrell (15-2-1) to a Division 2 win. Mink also set up Jacob Rose’s goal in the first period and Kooper Price made 15 saves for Burrell. Ryan Grunden scored and Nikita Oleksiienko made 44 saves for Deer Lakes (12-4-1).

Carrick 5, Bishop Canevin 4 – Ivan Manculich had two goals and an assist and Chris Tomassi added a goal and an assist to lead Carrick (7-6-3) to a Division 2 win. Brian Kalanish had a hat trick for Bishop Canevin (8-10).

Elizabeth Forward 9, Wilmington 6 – Bobby Boord Jr. had three goals and two assists and Josh Jackovic also scored a hat trick to lead Elizabeth Forward (10-8) to a Division 2 win. Alex Rodgers had three goals and an assist and Anthony Popovich collected two goals and three assists for Wilmington (2-13-1).

Greensburg Salem 3, Blackhawk 2 – Nathan Ross scored a pair of goals in the third period, including the game-winner with 2:16 to play, to lead Greensburg Salem (9-10) in Class A. Luke Diter also scored. Grant Shroads and Beck Harry had goals for Blackhawk (9-9-1).

Hempfield 7, Canon-McMillan 3 – Guerin Gardner had a hat trick and added an assist and Colby Herron collected two goals and an assist to lead Hempfield (6-9-1) to a Class 2A win. Nini DiPietro had a goal and two assists and JJ Williams added a goal and an assist for Hempfield. Brenden Lomago had two goals and an assist for Canon-McMillan (5-11-2).

Meadville 8, McDowell 6 – Ryan Yunik and Robert Mahoney each had two goals and three assists and Cole Sobolewski also scored twice for Meadville (10-9) in a Class A win. Dylan Payne, Evan Stachera and Jacob Baniewicz each had a goal and an assist for McDowell (6-12).

Morgantown 7, Central Valley 1 – Ayden Shepard had two goals and an assist and Jacob Hollander finished with a goal and two assists to lead Morgantown (18-1) in Division 2. Treyton Palocsik scored for Central Valley (5-11).

North Allegheny 5, Franklin Regional 3 – Five players scored for North Allegheny (8-6-1) in a Class 3A win. Noah Logan, Justin Hai, Gianni Lochiatto, Cedric Otey and Brady Hornyak did the scoring. Brendan Yohe, Carter Yohe and Ryan Crouse scored for Franklin Regional (7-8-1).

Seneca Valley 5, Bethel Park 1 – Owen Martin scored twice to lead Seneca Valley (13-3) to a Class 3A win. Nick Hosbach had a goal for Bethel Park (5-12).

Shaler 9, Beaver 1 – Blake Whiteman had two goals and two assists, Dylan Marsden also scored twice and Darius Malecki collected a goal and three assists for Shaler (15-3-1) in a Class A win. Brooke Goulder scored for Beaver (4-13-1).
