Rowan Carmichael became the 38th WPIAL boys basketball to reach 2,000 points for his career, scoring 36 to lead Avonworth to an 85-71 victory over Hopewell (6-10, 1-5) in Section 2-4A on Friday night. Noah Goetz added 25 points for the Antelopes (13-2, 6-0).
South Allegheny 73, Shady Side Academy 53 – Cam Epps and Drew Cook reached the 1,000-point milestone in the same game for South Allegheny (14-2, 5-0) in a Section 3-3A win. Epps made five 3-pointers and put up 29 points while Drew Cook added 15 points. Josh Jackowski followed with 14 for the Gladiators (13-2, 4-0). Seamus Riordan dropped 19 points and Mark Bence followed with 18 for Shady Side Academy (4-12, 2-4).
Keystone Oaks 67, Sto-Rox 35 – Joseph Colton had a quadruple-double with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and 10 steals to lead Keystone Oaks (12-5, 4-2) to a Section 2-3A win. Carmen Pellarin scored 22 points for the Golden Eagles. Javon Nelson and Marcus Griffin scored 10 points apiece for Sto-Rox (2-13, 0-6).
Uniontown 100, Penn-Trafford 85 – Isaac Ellsworth lit up the scoreboard by making eight 3-pointers and finishing with 30 points, Calvin Winfrey followed with 29 points, Notorious Grooms finished with 21 and Kelan Milsom had 20 for Uniontown (15-3, 10-0) in a Section 1-5A win. Tyler Anthony sank five 3-pointers and had 21 points to pace Penn-Trafford (8-8, 5-5), who had four other scorers in double figures. Evan Gross had 13 points, Brayden Stone added 19 and Jack Weishaar had 11 for the Warriors.
Aliquippa 87, Freedom 18 – Due to suspensions issued after an on-court altercation with Imani Christian last weekend, Aliquippa was down to five players and was without coach Nick Lackovich for a Section 1-3A meeting with Freedom (1-13, 1-6). Four of the five Quips in uniform scored in double figures. Joshua Pratt led with 35 points, Qa’lil Goode followed with 22, Marques Council had 16 and Michael Gaskins added 14 for Aliquippa (11-3, 8-0).
Apollo-Ridge 60, Steel Valley 59 (OT) – Zane Beatty went off for 27 points and Brayden Myers added 14 to help Apollo-Ridge (5-12, 1-5) to an overtime win in Section 3-3A. Nate Yuhas scored 18 to lead Steel Valley (3-12, 1-4). RaSaun Hough added 14, Jaeshawn Carson 12 and Da’Ron Barksdale 10 for the Ironmen.
Aquinas Academy 73, Summit Academy 61 – Sam Duer led all scorers with 35 points, making seven 3-pointers, while Jake Guillen added 22 and Jonah Burchill finished with 10 for Aquinas Academy (14-2, 5-1) in a Section 1-A win. Robert Young put up 20, Ky’zir Rowan dropped 15, Alpha Sow had 12 and Quaran Joiner contributed 10 for Summit Academy (6-6, 3-3).
Baldwin 88, Trinity 58 – Nate Wesling scored 26 points, Evan Golvash followed with 19 and Max Marzina contributed 15 to lead Baldwin (15-1, 7-1) past Trinity (8-7, 3-6) in Section 3-5A.
Beaver 59, Central Valley 55 – Brady Mayo put up 29 points and Junior Marino scored 12 as Beaver (13-4, 4-2) beat Central Valley (13-3, 4-2) in Section 2-4A. Isaiah Jeter dropped 17 points and Ryan Conti had 11 for the Warriors.
Beaver Falls 38, Riverside 36 – Dajuan Flenory scored 13 points, Jason Frank added 12 and Cartier Williams finished with 10 for Beaver Falls (1-14, 1-7) in a Section 1-3A win. Drake Fox led Riverside (7-12, 2-7) with 11 points.
Bentworth 70, Springdale 58 – Chris Harper and Ben Hays scored 25 points each to power Bentworth (7-8, 4-5) to a Section 1-2A win. Robby Simmen scored 29 points for Springdale (10-6, 4-5).
Bethel Park 54, Ringgold 47 – Tanner Pfeuffer scored 16 points to lead Bethel Park (6-10, 3-6) to a Section 3-5A win over Ringgold (4-10, 0-6). Braylen Lomax put up 14 points and Demitri Lowe contributed 12 for the Rams.
Brentwood 70, Propel Braddock Hills 42 – Forrest Betz led all scorers with 31 points and Colton Rosing produced 15 for Brentwood (7-9, 4-4) in Section 2-2A. Raymon Russell scored 17 for Propel Braddock Hills (2-16, 0-9).
Burgettstown 63, Carmichaels 36 – Parker Rommes dropped 20 points to lead Burgettstown (5-12, 2-8) to a Section 3-2A win. Sam Elich added 12 points and Colton County finished with 11 for the Blue Devils. Robbie Wilson-Jones put up 15 for Carmichaels (3-13, 2-8).
Central Catholic 68, Hempfield 27 – Enzo Khalil scored 12 points to help Central Catholic (10-6, 7-3) to a Section 2-6A win. Jack Kopas led Hempfield (8-8, 3-6) with nine points.
Chartiers Valley 57, Moon 52 – Luca Federico scored 19 points and Jayden Davis added 12 to lead Chartiers Valley (15-2, 7-2) to a Section 4-5A win. Carter Tumulty drained five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points while Michael Santicola put up 20 points for Moon (13-4, 5-3).
Chartiers-Houston 49, West Greene 40 – Justus Buckingham put up 18 points and Nate Gregory added 16 as Chartiers-Houston (14-2, 8-1) defeated West Greene (9-7, 7-3) in Section 3-2A. Lane Allison scored 13 for the Pioneers.
Clairton 43, Frazier 36 – Tahvaz Armstrong scored 11 points and Jontere Sanders followed with 10 as Clairton (6-6, 6-2) beat Frazier (3-14, 1-9) in Section 1-2A. Dalian McManus dropped 15 points and Kolby Stewart added 11 for the Commodores.
Elizabeth Forward 87, Greensburg Salem 55 – Tyler Basic hit 11 3-pointers and finished with 41 points to power Elizabeth Forward (14-3, 7-1) in Section 3-4A. Daniel Spencer had 12, Justin Flournoy 11 and Cy Herchelroath 10 for the Warriors. Braedon Leatherman scored 15 and Ty Harkcom added 10 for Greensburg Salem (4-11, 3-6).
Ellwood City 74, New Brighton 66 – Kaleb Servick scored 21 points and Aaron Lake followed with 18 to lead Ellwood City (10-6, 6-2) to a Section 1-3A victory. Maykel Cuevas had 12 and Chris Smiley 10 for the Wolverines. Dash Graham led New Brighton (4-10, 3-5) with 25 points.
Fort Cherry 58, Beth-Center 34 – Shane Cornali scored 40 points on 19-of-24 shooting from the field to lead Fort Cherry (9-7, 7-3) to a Section 3-2A win. Parker Amos and Jason Zelle each had 12 points for Beth-Center (8-9, 5-5).
Fox Chapel 52, Woodland Hills 46 – Caden Kaiser scored a career-high 32 points to lead Fox Chapel (13-4, 8-2) to a Section 1-6A win. Scoop Smith scored 17 points and Donshae Mosley had 12 for Woodland Hills (7-10, 3-7).
Greensburg Central Catholic 77, California 20 – AJ Tarpley led all scorers with 18 points, Liam Gallagher followed with 17 and Brady O’Rouke added 13 as Greensburg Central Catholic (15-1, 9-0) defeated California (2-13, 0-9) in Section 1-2A. Caden Monticelli produced 12 for the Trojans.
Imani Christian 73, Connellsville 60 – I’Zayah Bradshaw dropped 23 points, Deston Hubbard added 14, Desean Gordan followed with 13 and Markus Williams finished with 10 as Imani Christian (9-6, 7-2) beat Connellsville (3-14, 0-10) in Section 2-6A. Lucas Harwood put up 22 points and Christian Thomas contributed 12 for the Falcons.
Jeannette 63, Riverview 26 – Markus McGowan finished with 21 points while Xavier Odorisio-Farrow scored 13 as Jeannette (13-1, 7-1) rolled to a Section 1-2A win. Rex Roberts scored nine points to pace Riverview (7-10, 5-5).
Jefferson-Morgan 62, Mapletown 13 – Jeremiah Robertson scored 16 points, Houston Guesman finished with 14 and Jaymison Robinson chipped in with 11 as Jefferson-Morgan (12-5, 8-2) rolled past Mapletown (0-16, 0-10) in Section 3-2A.
Knoch 81, Highlands 45 – Teegan Finucan scored 21 points, Jackson Bauman had 13 and Brody Bauman added 11 to lead Knoch (13-4, 8-1) to a Section 1-4A win. Troy Bielak scored 15 points for Highlands (4-10, 3-5).
Latrobe 68, Laurel Highlands 40 – Max Butler and Andy Tatsch scored 16 points each and Ian DeCerb and John Wetzel added 10 points apiece to lead Latrobe (16-2, 8-2) to a Section 1-5A win. Antwan Black scored 14 for Laurel Highlands (4-13, 1-9).
Ligonier Valley 74, Mt. Pleasant 36 – Parker Hollick led all scorers with 28 points and Brian Wisniewski finished with 15 as Ligonier Valley (8-7, 3-2) beat Mt. Pleasant (0-17, 0-6) in Section 4-3A.
Mars 58, West Allegheny 41 – Will Wilson scored 22 points and Drew Navetta added 12 for Mars (10-7, 5-3) in a Section 4-5A win over West Allegheny (7-10, 2-6).
McKeesport 78, Albert Gallatin 73 (OT) – Lamont Perkins dropped 38 points and Matthew Sebelia added 16 to lead McKeesport (6-11, 4-6) to an overtime win in Section 1-5A. Ethan Kennedy scored 24 and Jason Jackson had 19 for Albert Gallatin (7-10, 2-8).
Montour 79, Blackhawk 39 – Colton Straight led with 21 points, Kaleb Platz followed with 19, Ama Sow had 16 and Mark Carter added 10 for Montour (14-1, 9-0) in a Section 4-5A win. Justin Shanor scored 14 points and Tyler Heckathorn had 13 for Blackhawk (4-11, 1-7).
Mt. Lebanon 76, Canon-McMillan 45 – Liam Sheely scored 20 points, Jacob Zaber had 16 and Carter Gould added 15 to lead Mt. Lebanon (10-6, 6-4) to a Section 2-6A win. Keegan Williams scored 10 points for Canon-McMillan (3-13, 1-9).
Nazareth Prep 58, Avella 38 – Will Evans put up 18 points and Mikey Keys contributed 10 for Nazareth Prep (11-4, 6-0) in a Section 1-A win. Cam Ullom scored 10 points for Avella (8-8, 1-4).
Neighborhood Academy 71, Monessen 55 – Courtney Wallace and Kedron Gilmore scored 20 points apiece and Syncer Nicholson added 12 as Neighborhood Academy (17-1, 6-0) defeated Monessen (9-5, 3-3) in Section 2-A. Rodney Johnson (13), TyVaughn Kershaw (11), Jae’Kwan Craggette (11) and Devontae Robinson (10) scored in double figures for the Greyhounds.
Neshannock 82, Rochester 35 – David Kwiat dropped 24 points and Talan Anderton added 14 for Neshannock (14-2, 9-1) in a Section 4-2A win. Nate Bills led Rochester (5-11, 2-7) with 17 points.
New Castle 69, Butler 46 – Damian Harrison and Kai Cox scored 14 points apiece, Qualin Davis had 12 and Ralphie Blundo added 11 to lead New Castle (13-3, 7-3) to a Section 1-6A win. Andrew Gettinger scored 17 points and Stainton Forbes had 14 for Butler (11-6, 4-6).
North Allegheny 41, Pine-Richland 36 – Carter Melzer scored 14 points and Justin Stalter produced 10 as North Allegheny (6-10, 2-8) defeated Pine-Richland (5-11, 3-7) in Section 1-6A. Alex Kastner led the Rams with 12 points.
North Catholic 83, Valley 49 – Jude Rottmann drained six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points to lead North Catholic (11-5, 6-1) to a Section 1-4A win. Donnie Schubert added 15 points for the Trojans. Mickael Allen dropped 20 and Taireke Davis had 14 for Valley (5-12, 0-9).
Northgate 78, Eden Christian 56 – Tylan Daniels scored 25 points, Desmond Williams added 15 and Kaden Kemp had 14 for Northgate (8-6, 5-1) in Section 2-2A. James Wilkin and River Bartram scored 16 points each and Mason Dean added 13 for Eden Christian (4-13, 3-6).
OLSH 70, Union 59 – Tiernan McCullough scored 18 points, Jake Johnson had 16 and Austin Avsec added 15 to lead OLSH (14-4, 9-1) to a Section 4-2A win. Lucas Stanley led with 29 points and Landon Eckert had 11 for Union (13-5, 7-3).
Penn Hills 44, Armstrong 42 – Amon Hawthorne scored 13 points to lead Penn Hills (7-7, 7-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Jaydon Oliver finished with 11 for Armstrong (4-11, 0-8).
Quaker Valley 71, Ambridge 39 – Nic Cohen scored 15 points, Dominic Cox-Giles had 14 and Kolton Johnson added 13 to lead Quaker Valley (11-4, 3-3) to a Section 2-4A win. Julien Hubbard scored 13 points and Trevor Stevenson had 10 for Ambridge (2-12, 0-6).
Serra Catholic 80, Geibel Catholic 49 – Owen Dumbroski put up 25 points, Brayden Graham added 12 and Mark Johnson followed with 11 as Serra Catholic (14-2, 5-1) cruised to a Section 2-A victory. Evan Strimel scored 17 and Gary Tarbuck had 10 for Geibel (9-7, 2-4).
Sewickley Academy 70, Winchester Thurston 40 – Nolan Donnelly scored 19 points to lead Sewickley Academy (13-2, 9-0) to a Section 2-2A win over Winchester Thurston (10-5, 5-3).
Shaler 60, Plum 59 – Jordan Epps put up 21 points, Josh Berger added 13 and Deron Nixon had 11 as Shaler (7-10, 4-4) edged Plum (7-7, 3-4) in Section 2-5A. Max Grice produced 19 points and Will Beckner put up 14 for the Mustangs.
Shenango 50, Laurel 46 – Gavin Bruce scored 22 points, Joey Campoli had 14 and Brayden George added 10 to push Shenango (7-9, 5-4) to a Section 4-2A win. Jayden Iorio and Luca Santini scored 14 points apiece for Laurel (8-9, 2-7).
Southmoreland 61, Charleroi 35 – Noah Felentzer hit for 22 points and Ty Whoric contributed 11 to send Southmoreland (13-4, 6-0) to a Section 4-3A win. Jackson Keranko scored 15 for Charleroi (8-9, 2-4).
South Fayette 71, Thomas Jefferson 63 – Gavin Orosz led led with 23 points, Tyson Wright followed with 21, Dylan Head had 13 and Stefano Vezio added 12 for South Fayette (13-4, 8-1) in a Section 3-5A win. Nick Trklja scored 23 points and Noah Kaszer had 14 for Thomas Jefferson (8-9, 3-5).
South Park 41, Seton LaSalle 33 – Luke Scarff scored 18 points to pace South Park (12-4, 5-1) in a Section 3-3A victory over Seton LaSalle (6-10, 3-3). Patrick Weldon had 13 points and DayVaughn Williams added 10 for the Rebels.
South Side 80, Western Beaver 49 – Andrew Corfield scored 21 points to lead five players in double figures for South Side (10-7, 4-5) to a Section 4-2A win. Mateja Pavlovich added 14, Carter Wilson 13, Raymond Fischer 11 and Austin Leatherman 10 for the Rams. Khai Hudson scored 15 and Jackson Liller had 10 for Western Beaver (2-15, 0-10).
St. Joseph 55, Environmental Charter 51 – Ben Bartolovic scored 19 points and Gabe Maltese added 11 to push St. Joseph (7-9, 2-4) to a Section 2-A win. Tobias Howard scored 11 points and Gerard Williams had 10 for Environmental Charter (0-11, 0-6).
Upper St. Clair 81, Norwin 59 – Nikolas Gidas and Kaamil Jackson scored 17 points apiece and Tyler Robbins added 16 to lead Upper St. Clair (17-1, 10-0) to a Section 2-6A win. Christopher McKnight and Alex Graney scored 14 points apiece for Norwin (8-7, 4-4).
Waynesburg 68, Brownsville 59 – Dane Woods scored 15 points and was one of five Waynesburg (5-9, 4-1) players to score in double figures in a Section 4-3A win. Cole Headlee had 13, Alex VanSickle finished with 12 while Alex Eck and Jack Ricciuti each contributed 10 for the Raiders. Jaiden Praster put up 20 points, Cameron Phillips added 13 and Kaden Wimmer followed with 12 for Brownsville (3-12, 1-4).
West Mifflin 71, Yough 31 – Daven Reynolds led with 20 points, Julian Dewberry followed with 15 and Jose Perez and James Rideout added 10 points apiece for West Mifflin (5-12, 4-4) in a Section 3-4A win. Charlie Quinn scored 12 points for Yough (1-17, 0-9).

Blackhawk 70, Lincoln Park 23 – Aubree Hupp led all scorers with 19 points, Mia Sheesley added 17, Andrea Kinger put up 14 and Grace Huston finished with 10 for Blackhawk (15-2, 9-0) in a Section 2-4A win. Maddi Januzzi scored seven points to pace Lincoln Park (4-11, 1-6).
Canon-McMillan 45, Upper St. Clair 38 – Lauren Borella scored 12 points for Canon-McMillan (10-6, 4-2) in a Section 2-6A win. Rylee Kalocay scored 18 points and Meredith Huzjak had 12 for Upper St. Clair (12-4, 5-1).
Chartiers Valley 44, Moon 33 – Jaedin Griggs produced 12 points and Jayla Brown followed with 10 to power Chartiers Valley (12-6, 8-1) to a Section 3-5A win over Moon (10-4, 5-2).
Cameron (WV) 36, West Greene 28 – Maci Nedy scored 12 points and Devon School added 10 for Cameron (7-3) in a nonsection win. Madelyn Roberts put up 16 points for West Greene (9-6).
Freedom 59, Western Beaver 47 – Led by 17 points from MacKenzie Mohrbacher, 14 from Brianna Casto and 12 from Olivia Henderson, Freedom (4-12) picked up a nonsection win. Taraji Backur scored 28 and Liz Squicquero added 18 for Western Beaver (3-13).
Greensburg Central Catholic 76, Ligonier Valley 15 – Erica Gribble scored 22 points to lead five players in double figures for Greensburg Central Catholic (10-3, 6-1) in a Section 2-3A win over Ligonier Valley (4-10, 2-6). Avery Jones added 16, Morgan Skoloda had 12 and Erica Rodriguez and Jayla Peterson each chipped in 11 for the Centurions.
Indiana 48, McKeesport 23 – Laken Kugler and Addy Hutton scored 13 points apiece and Emily Betsinger added nine to lead Indiana (12-3, 6-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Emily Eisenberg scored 11 points for McKeesport (4-13, 1-8).
Keystone Oaks 51, Chartiers-Houston 46 – Laney Wagner led all scorers with 28 points and Hannah York contributed 17 to carry Keystone Oaks (13-1) past Chartiers-Houston (12-4) in a nonsection win. Ava Kolovich and Ava Capozzi each scored 12 for the Buccaneers.
Mars 53, West Allegheny 44 – Alexis Cashdollar scored 26 points and Cecilia Christy chipped in 10 for Mars (10-7, 4-4) in a section 3-5A win over West Allegheny (9-8, 2-7).
Penn Hills 44, Armstrong 26 – Malaya Midleton led all scorers with 15 points, Milani Oliver added 14 and Cara Crawford finished with 10 as Penn Hills (2-13, 2-6) beat Armstrong (2-13, 1-7) in Section 1-5A. Marlo Mellish scored 11 points for the River Hawks.
Pine-Richland 50, Woodland Hills 14 – Cate Gentile scored 24 points to lead Pine-Richland (5-11, 4-2) to a Section 1-6A win over Woodland Hills (5-9, 0-6).
Plum 43, Burrell 31 – Riley Stephans scored 16 points to power Plum (5-10) to a nonsection victory over Burrell (11-7). Jules Fisher scored 14 for the Bucs.
Redeemer Lutheran 65, Propel Montour 10 – Molly Hagey scored 27 points, Jordan Mitchell added 18 and Jaden Craig had 12 to lead Redeemer Lutheran past Propel Montour.
Seneca Valley 47, North Allegheny 42 – Gracie Cato and Natalie Hambly scored 14 points apiece and Reece McFadden added 10 to push Seneca Valley (11-5, 6-0) past North Allegheny (6-9, 3-3) in a Section 1-6A win. Rosalia Varlotta scored 11 and Leah Skweres had 10 for the Tigers.
South Fayette 79, Montour 33 – Lailah Wright and Juliette Leroux each scored 15 points while Haylie Lamonde added 14 to lead South Fayette (16-1, 9-0) to a Section 3-5A win. Sienna Palmer produced 11 points to pace Montour (7-10, 2-7).
South Park 49, Yough 8 – Bella Stromberg scored 10 points to lead South Park (11-4, 8-2) in a Section 3-4A victory over Yough (10-8, 4-6).
Diving
WCCA championships – It was a big day for the host Trojans with Jake Hauser repeating as boys champion and Chaeli Keenan beating out teammate Ella Silvis for the girls title.
Hauser finished with a total of 458.70, outpacing Franklin Regional’s Mac Miller (337) and Latrobe’s Ethan Stenger (335.45).
Keenan had a final score of 412.95, finishing ahead of Silvis (387.05) and Latrobe’s Giada Angelicchio (362.20). It was a reversal of last year’s results when Silvis finished first and Keenan was second.
