High school roundup for March 18, 2024: Bethel Park softball rallies past rival Mt. Lebanon in opener

Julia Miller had three hits, including two-run singles in the sixth and seventh innings, to lead Bethel Park to a 10-6 comeback victory over Mt. Lebanon in nonsection softball Monday.

Belinda Bova had three hits and Taylor Striegel drove in two runs for the Black Hawks (1-0). Rebecca Davis had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (0-1).

Brentwood 18, Northgate 2 – Carma Coberly went 4 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs, Abbey Fickley had three RBIs, and Mia March had three hits, including a triple, and also drove in four runs to lead Brentwood (1-0) to a nonsection win. Emma Thompson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and Paige Boehm and Izabella Fedunok each had three RBIs. Johna Abramowicz singled and drove in a run for Northgate (0-1).

Seton LaSalle 16, Bishop Canevin 0 – Gianna Ferrieri threw a four-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead Seton LaSalle (1-0) to a nonsection win over Bishop Canevin (0-1). Kara Collins had three hits and three RBIs and Kiara Cerminara drove in five runs for the Rebels.

Baseball

Charleroi 18, Monessen 3 – Jace Pager had three hits, including a double, and Jackson Keranko and Tyler O’Neill each singled and doubled for Charleroi (2-0) in a nonsection win in three innings. RJ DiEugenio doubled and drove in a pair for Monessen (0-1).

Clairton 18, Northgate 11 – Daevon Gaynor had four hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs to lead Clairton (1-0) to a nonsection win. Jontere Sanders had two hits and drove in five runs and Robert Wallace had two doubles and two RBIs for the Bears. Chris Crawford had four hits, including two doubles, for Northgate (0-2).

Freedom 17, Carlynton 1 – Chase Grable had three hits and winning pitcher Garrett Drutarosky drove in five runs to lead Freedom (1-0) to a four-inning nonsection win. Jacob Hughes had the lone hit for Carlynton (1-1).

Valley 4, Ligonier Valley 1 – Nikolas Heakins had two hits and Dante Taliani drove in two runs to lead Valley in nonsection baseball. Julian Danko doubled for the Vikings (2-0). Gavin Moore singled and drove in a run for the Rams (0-2).

Girls lacrosse

Fox Chapel 13, Indiana 8 – Sydney Schutzman and Caroline Leland scored three goals apiece and Meg Delaney and Annie Mohn each scored twice to lead Fox Chapel to a nonsection win.

North Hills 23, Hempfield 1 – Abigail Krogmann scored eight goals and Hailey Coyne added seven to lead North Hills to a nonsection win. Addison Moriconi and Paige Hollenberger each scored twice. Trinity Blackburn scored for Hempfield.

Boys volleyball

Canon-McMillan 3, Montour 1 – Luke Bockius had 20 kills and six digs and Justin Peters recorded nine kills and 17 assists to lead Canon-McMillan to a nonsection win.
