High school roundup for Nov. 30, 2023: Nolan Murphy nets hat trick in South Fayette win

Nolan Murphy had a hat trick and added an assist to lead South Fayette to a 7-2 victory over Fox Chapel in PIHL Class 2A hockey Thursday night.

Robert Chiappetta finished with four assists for South Fayette (4-1-1). Liam Wiseman and Grady Cullen had a goal and assist each for Fox Chapel (6-4).

Armstrong 7, North Hills 3 – Adam Hooks had a hat trick to pace Armstrong (2-6) in a Class 2A win. Jake Graff added a goal and two assists for the River Hawks. Jonathan Trosky scored twice for North Hills (0-10).

Avonworth 6, Richland 0 – Conner Ralston collected four goals and an assist and Danny Mack made 15 saves to lead Avonworth (7-1) to a Class A win over Richland (2-8). Richard Malsch and Aidan O’Dell also scored and Jack Dolan and Cooper Powell each had two assists.

Beaver 10, Westmont Hilltop 3 – Roman Guido and Trevor Schmidt each recorded a hat trick for Beaver (4-5) in a Class A win. Guido and Danny Cogis had three assists apiece and Gabe Forney scored a pair of goals. Ethan Downey, Logan Glessner and Brett Hoffman scored for Westmont Hilltop (0-8).

Bethel Park 2, Mt. Lebanon 1 (OT) – Ryan Tierney scored the tying goal in the final seconds of regulation and Zach Mazzacone netted the game-winner in overtime as Bethel Park (4-3-1) picked up a Class 3A win. Xavier Bias scored for Mt. Lebanon (4-4-1).

Bishop Canevin 4, Burrell 2 – Aiden Malay had a hat trick and added an assist, Ryan Saginaw added a goal and an assist, and Ben Ondrejko dished out three assists to lead Bishop Canevin (7-0) in Varsity D2. John Lukac scored twice for Burrell (5-3).

Carrick 11, Knoch 6 – Tanner Heidkamp had four goals and three assists for a seven-point night in a Varsity D2 win for Carrick (7-2). Drew Bird recorded a hat trick and Ian Manculich added a goal and four assists. Ethan Keller had three goals and two assists for Knoch (3-5).

Central Valley 6, Sewickley Academy 1 – Gavin Crivelli scored four goals to lead Central Valley (6-4) to a Varsity D2 win. Gavin Husk made 15 saves in net for the Warriors. Arjun Kathju had the lone goal for Sewickley Academy (0-7-1).

Chartiers Valley 5, Hampton 1 – Tyler Held scored twice and Matthew Colberg made 18 saves in net as Chartiers Valley (9-0) picked up a Class A win. Brady Nairn added a goal and an assist for the Colts and Austin Tornabene had a pair of assists. Sean Sullivan scored for Hampton (2-7).

Indiana 5, McDowell 1 – Gabe Nettleton scored a hat trick and Garrett Goodrich had three assists for Indiana (7-1-2) in a Class A victory. Jayden Learn made 24 saves in goal for the Indians. Bryce Peterson scored for McDowell (3-5-1).

Latrobe 3, Norwin 2 – Louie Amatucci scored 53 seconds into overtime to help Latrobe (8-2) edge Norwin (4-3-2) in a Class 2A. Kaleb Trice and Cam Mikulsky scored once for Latrobe. Alex Thomas and John Sundberg found the net for Norwin (4-3-2) and Owen Burmeister made 38 saves.

Pine-Richland 4, Central Catholic 2 – Cullen Campbell and Zachary Howard each collected a goal and an assist to lead Pine-Richland (6-2) to a Class 3A victory. Roger Williams and Logan Kozak also scored for Pine-Richland. Jake Ochwat had a goal and an assist and Anthony D’Orazio also scored for Central Catholic (4-4).

Quaker Valley 5, North Catholic 1 – Coleman Carey had a goal and an assist and Max Modrovich, Liam Welge, Charlie Pyle and Jacob Keisel also scored for Quaker Valley (9-0) in a Class A win. Ben McHenry had three assists. Carmen D’Ambrosio scored for North Catholic (4-3-1).
