High school roundup for Nov. 6, 2023: Blackhawk scores in final seconds to beat Plum, stay unbeaten

Bryce Leiper scored the game-winning goal on the power play with 19 seconds to go as Blackhawk defeated Plum, 2-1, in PIHL Class A hockey Monday night. Dylan Leiper also scored and Evan Kennelly made 27 saves for Blackhawk (4-0). Maksim Popienko scored and Noah Lander made 33 saves for Plum (2-4).

Central Valley 9, Neshannock 5 – Aiden Pournaras had a seven-point night with five goals and two assists as Central Valley (3-2) won in Varsity D2. Gavin Crivelli scored four goals and Mikey Crea had two goals and an assist. Giovanni Valentine had two goals and an assist for Neshannock (5-1).

Indiana 1, Mars 0 – Luke Rowe made 47 saves to earn the shutout and Landin Wilson scored the decisive goal as Indiana (5-1-2) won in Class A. Adam Goul made 22 saves for Mars (3-2).

Knoch 9, Trinity 4 – Ethan Keller had three goals and two assists to lead Knoch (2-2) to a Varsity D2 victory. Synjun McHattie added two goals and two assists and Alec Lattanzio and Mick Ritts each had a goal and an assist for Knoch. Cole Johnson scored twice and Cale Bitz had a goal and two assists for Trinity (1-2).

McDowell 8, Montour 3 – Dylan Payne had three goals and two assists and Gino Heenan also had a hat trick for McDowell (2-3) in a Class A win. Ty Turer had a goal and three assists and Harrison Parra added a goal and an assist.Hunter Fiedler and Thomas Barefoot each had a goal and an assist for Montour (0-6).

Seneca Valley 5, Pine-Richland 0 – Jacob Komaniak had two goals and an assist and Ethan Lindberg added a goal and an assist as Seneca Valley (4-2) defeated Pine-Richland (4-2) in Class 3A. Cenzo Ditullio had a 23-save shutout.

Shaler 5, Butler 3 – Jacob Kunc had two goals, Lucca Laquatra added a goal and an assist, and Jacob Skerlong and Bradyn Whiteman also scored as Shaler (5-0) scored five times in the first period and it stood up for a Class A win. Owen Denny had a goal and an assist for Butler (3-4).

South Fayette 6, Franklin Regional 5 – Nolan Murphy’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner as South Fayette (2-1-1) won in Class 2A. Trevor Dalessandro had two goals and an assist, Tyler Brandebura added a goal and two assists, and Robert Chiappetta had three assists for South Fayette. Brendan Yohe had a hat trick ad Max Rutkowski added a goal and an assist for Franklin Regional (1-2-2).

West Allegheny 5, Kiski 4 – AJ Jak had two goals and an assist and Branden Switalski collected a goal and three assists as West Allegheny (1-5) won in Class A.Ethan Bombalski had a hat trick for Kiski (0-6).

Wheeling Park 6, Wheeling Catholic 2 – Anna Brannare and Kaden Schnarr each scored twice and Cooper Abraham had a goal and two assists to lead Wheeling Park (4-2) to a Class A victory. Logan Pielech scored twice for Wheeling Catholic (3-1).
