Chartiers-Houston (8-0, 3-0) was led at the plate by some youth and some veteran leadership in their 10-0, five inning victory over Bentworth (3-5, 1-2) on Tuesday in Houston.

Both Freshman Kaci Alderson and Senior Macie Kesneck finished one leg short of a cycle, while both delivering three RBI.

The Bucs jumped out to a 2-0 1st inning lead on Kesneck’s two-out triple and would add on in the 5th, as Kesneck ripped an RBI double and another Freshman, Karlyn Bayer, plated Kesneck with a base hit.

The 4th inning belonged to Alderson though, who crushed a 3-run home run over the centerfield fence, pushing the Bucs’ lead to 7-0.

Chartiers-Houston capped the mercy rule win in the 5th inning, racking up four-straight hits, including an RBI single by Lauren Lober, before pinch hitter Kayla Elliot ended the game with a 2-run single.

Kesneck went 3-for-3, scoring 3 runs, while Alderson finished a triple shy of the cycle, with 3 runs scored. Only one Chartiers-Houston batter failed to reach the plate in the Bucs’ fourth straight mercy rule win.

Kaitlyn Dittrich picked up the win for Chartiers-Houston, allowing no runs on three hits, with six strikeouts and a walk in her five innings of work.

Ranked number one in the MSA Sports Class 2-A top ten rankings, Chartiers-Houston has now outscored opponents 93-23 this year and will next host Frazier in a battle for first place in 2-A Section 3 on Wednesday.

Leah Lindley was tagged with the loss for Bentworth, while Kaylie Anderson got one out in relief before allowing the winning run. Savannah Adams led off the game with a triple for the Bearcats, which host Burgettstown Wednesday.
