While he couldn't exactly interview himself for the job, Mt. Pleasant athletic director Allan Bilinsky believes he has the qualifications necessary to be the school's next boys basketball coach.

At least in the short term.

Bilinsky on Monday night was named the interim successor to Donny Porter, who was not retained after four seasons in charge of the program.

The AD at Mt. Pleasant since 2015, Bilinsky is a former two-sport standout and a member of the Norwin Athletic Hall of Fame.

It appears his plate will be pretty full in the coming months. He also is the assistant junior-senior high principal.

This will be his first head coaching job in the WPIAL.

Bilinsky graduated from West Liberty in 1999. He taught physical education at Warren County Middle School in Virginia and also coached varsity football and basketball in the district.

He was a gym teacher at Penn Hills in 2003 and became an assistant football coach in that district under three head coaches until 2014. He helped coach future NFL talents Aaron Donald and Barry Church.

He also coached at Norwin in 2010.
