The Midshipmen landed a third WPIAL football recruit from the 2026 class when Avonworth lineman Peter Bonnet committed to Navy on Tuesday.

The rising senior announced his decision on social media. A 6-foot-5, 285-pound tackle, Bonnet had more than a dozen Division I offers, including from fellow service academies Army and Air Force.

Western Pennsylvania has proven to be a successful recruiting area for the Midshipmen, who already have five WPIAL alums on the current roster. Bonnet is the third rising senior from the WPIAL to commit to the U.S. Naval Academy in two weeks, joining Moon’s Braeden Stuart and Trinity’s Anthony Giorgi.

Stuart, a 6-1, 195-pound wide receiver and defensive back, committed Friday. Giorgi, a 6-4, 225-pound linebacker and wide receiver, announced his commitment June 21.

The addition of Bonnet gives Navy commitments from 45 players in the 2026 class, according to recruiting website Rivals.com.

Bonnet earned first-team all-conference honors on offense last season when Avonworth won the WPIAL Class 3A title and finished as the state runner-up. The Antelopes rushed for 3,258 yards, an average of 203.6 per game, and scored 47 rushing touchdowns.

Bonnet also listed offers from Akron, Cornell, Dartmouth, Fordham, Fresno State, Lafayette, Miami (Ohio), Monmouth, New Hampshire, Penn, Sacramento State, Stony Brook and Utah State.
