Norwin boys tennis team undertakes complete rebuild

The Norwin boys tennis team (2-4 in Section 1-AAA) faces a massive rebuilding job.
Norwin coach Ryan Hornick said the Knights have a completely new roster after losing 14 players from last season.
Among the losses were four players who represented the Knights in the Section 1-AAA singles and doubles tournaments.
“Any time that type of turnover happens, it is definitely a challenge to reach a high level of success,” Hornick said. “However, I have been extremely impressed with the focus our team has shown.”
Top players for the Knights are junior captains Jadon Hooke and Grant Snyder, freshman Luke Snyder and junior Deven Summers.
Hooke and Grant Snyder look forward to improving.
“Our goals are to work hard and focus on gaining experience,” Snyder said. “We want to move towards winning matches and building for next year.”
Said Hooke: “My goals are to just get better in every way that we can, no matter who we are playing.”
Hornick said Hooke and Snyder set excellent examples.
“Our goal is to make the WPIAL team playoffs, and that goal is still within our reach,” Hornick said.
The Knights have qualified for the WPIAL championship two of the three past seasons. They finished out of the top four in the section last season.
