Belle Vernon soccer coach Al Yeschenko resigns

Belle Vernon soccer coach Al Yeschenko.

With his son, Brandon, set to begin his college soccer career, Al Yeschenko would have been torn between coaching Belle Vernon’s boys and following Pitt-Greensburg.

Rather than juggle a crowded schedule, Yeshchenko resigned from his post at Belle Vernon.

He guided the boys for four years as head coach and was an assistant for one year.

“Balancing this commitment with the demands of the Belle Vernon program will not be fair to either my family or the team,” he said.

Yeschenko, who teaches at West Mifflin, finished 50-18-1 and did not miss the WPIAL playoffs. On his watch, the Leopards won back-to-back section titles in 2022 and ‘23.

“Coaching BVA soccer has been a truly rewarding experience, from youth soccer, to travel soccer and then with boys varsity,” he said. “I am grateful for the chance to work with such amazing players, supportive families and a dedicated staff over the past five seasons.”
