Logan Kennedy was Penn Hills’ top finisher at the Western Pennsylvania regional high school bowling championships. Kennedy placed 47th by bowling an 871 series. Kennedy finished with a high game of 201 at the event.

East Allegheny’s JJ Bingham won the championship match after coming into the step-ladder finals as the second seed. He defeated the top seed, Greensburg Salem’s Dylan Megliorino, 39-17, in a two-frame tiebreaker after they tied at 199.

Kelly plays in tournament

When Penn Hills graduate Daemar Kelly committed to play at Quinnipiac, he did so in part because he wanted to play in the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats were seeded first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.

While the results of the tournament were too late for this edition, Kelly did make his debut in the conference tournament for the first time this season. Kelly grabbed a rebound in the opening game as top-seeded Quinnipiac knocked off Canisius.

Kelly served mostly in a reserve role as a freshman for the Bobcats. He was a 1,000-point scorer during his time with the Indians.

Hardy impresses

Former Penn Hills and Penn State standout Daquan Hardy has spent his spring being busy and trying to impress NFL scouts. One area where Hardy has stood out among his peers is with his speed. Hardy recorded the top speed at the 10-yard split among cornerbacks at the NFL combine.

Hardy finished with a speed of 19.86 miles per hour, edging past Florida State’s Renardo Green, who was second at 19.36 miles per hour. Ryan Watts of Texas (19.13 mph), Alabama’s Terrion Arnold (18.4) and South Dakota’s Myles Harden (18.27) rounded out the top five.

Allen finishes 7th

Angelo Allen built some momentum for the outdoor season at the PSAC indoor track championships. Allen, who was a state qualifier in the shot put and discus during his time at Penn Hills, competed for Seton Hill at the conference championships.

He finished in seventh place in the shot put with a throw of 15.66 meters.
