Austin Kreutzberger’s goal in the 69th minute of play proved to be the game winner as Penn-Trafford came from behind at home in the second half to defeat Kiski Area at Warriors Stadium.

Kreutzberger, a junior forward, took a feed from senior Joe Salesi up ahead and in the right side of the box and buried a shot from 12-yards out past Cavaliers goalkeeper Nick Bisceglia to give the Warriors their first lead.

Salesi also contributed on the game tying goal for Penn-Trafford 8 minutes earlier. Salesi was again in the left side of the box when his shot was blocked by the Cavaliers defense, the rebound was picked up by a hard charging Jared Phillips for Penn-Trafford and the junior’s strong shot from 20-yards out deflected past Bisceglia to tie the game at 1-1 in the 61st minute of play.

Kiski Area had taken a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute of play on a free kick by defender Nick Bono.  The junior bent a shot from just inside the near sideline from 22-yards out over the outstretched hands of Penn-Trafford sophomore goalkeeper Logan Kreutzberger. It was just the seventh goal allowed by the Warriors in 11 games this season.

The defense was again solid for Penn-Trafford, mostly resulting from a very strong forward push in the second half of play. Penn-Trafford dominated possession in the second 40 minutes, outshooting Kiski Area 14-2 and not letting the Cavaliers threaten while gaining the come-from-behind victory.

The two second half goals allowed by Kiski Area were the first against the Cavaliers in two-games.

The loss snapped Kiski Area’s unbeaten streak (4-0-1) and dropped the Cavaliers record to (6-6-1) overall and (5-3-1) in Section 4A. Penn-Trafford (10-1) overall, has won 4 straight games after suffering its only loss of the season to Norwin.

The win improved the Warriors section record to (8-1) and kept Penn-Trafford tied with Norwin atop Section 4A. Logan Kreutzberger made 3 saves in net to gain the win for Penn-Trafford. Bisceglia was much busier for Kiski Area, stooping 14 shots in a losing effort for the Cavaliers.

The Warriors also led the corner kick tally in the match by a 7-1 margin. Penn-Trafford’s next 3 games are all on the road, with section matches against Latrobe and Franklin Regional next up for the Warriors.
