Pennsylvania beats Maryland in 2024 Big 33 Football Classic

Imhotep Charter’s Tyseer Denmark caught three touchdown passes, helping Pennsylvania defeat Maryland, 31-7, in the Big 33 Football Classic on Sunday night at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field.

It was Pennsylvania’s fifth straight win over Maryland in a game filled with graduating senior all-star football players.

Manheim Township quarterback Hayden Johnson tossed two touchdown strikes, and Steelton-Highspire’s Alex Erby threw one to Denmark, who had four receptions for 95 yards. The Penn State recruit was named Pennsylvania’s MVP.

North Allegheny’s Khiryn Boyd caught two passes for 23 yards in the win, and Bishop Canevin’s Jason Cross had an interception.

St. Joseph’s Prep’s Erik Sanchez scored on a 1-yard run and Williamsport’s Connor Poole booted a 27-yard field goal, as Pennsylvania opened a 31-0 lead at halftime.

Maryland scored once in the third quarter to make the final score 31-7.

In the girls flag football tournament championship beforehand, the Philadelphia Eagles team beat the Pittsburgh Steelers team, 20-14.

Moon’s Charity Fisher and Serayah Leech had touchdown receptions for the Steelers.
