PIHL all-star games roundup: 3 games end in tie as area’s top players take the ice

The PIHL held five all-star games Sunday at Robert Morris’ Island Sports Center. Here are the highlights:

Class 3A

Blue 2, Gold 2 — Eli Rankin (Upper St. Clair) and Drew Alexander (Peters Township) scored, and Evan Benscoter (Central Catholic) and Conner Ribstein (Mt. Lebanon) had assists for Blue. Cenzo DiTullio (Seneca Valley), Owen Laurent (Upper St. Clair) and Austin Landosky (Baldwin) combined for 25 saves for Blue.

For Gold, Cam Martin (Peters Township) scored both goals, Troy Jones (Peters Township) had two assists and Evan Kerber (North Allegheny) added a helper. Andrew Long (North Allegheny), Kyle Thomas (Peters Township) and Tanner Ball (Cathedral Prep) made 20 total saves.

Class 2A

Blue 6, Gold 6 — Blue and Gold played to a tie in the Class 2A all-star game. Alex Thomas (Norwin) had two goals and two assists, and Jacob Hannah (Latrobe) scored twice for Blue. Jacob Stock (Thomas Jefferson) and Dom Casile (Fox Chapel) added goals, and Bryce Kropczynski (Penn-Trafford) and Aaron Varrati (Norwin) had two assists each.

For Gold, Scott Allan (Thomas Jefferson) had a goal and three assists. Owen Chiappetta (South Fayette), Nolan Murphy (South Fayette), Liam Wiseman (Fox Chapel), Andrew Oliver (Thomas Jefferson) and Brian Spencer (Thomas Jefferson) scored goals.

Class A

Blue 5, Gold 1 — Noah Callender (Chartiers Valley) had two goals, and Matias Huber (Blackhawk), Chris DeAngelis (Chartiers Valley) and Carson Cuddy (Beaver) added goals to lead Blue past Gold in the first Class A all-star game.

Caleb Berardelli (Beaver), Evan Kennelly (Blackhawk) and Matthew Colberg (Chartiers Valley) combined for 24 saves in victory.

Austin Gatti (Avonworth) scored for Gold off an assist from Jack Dolan (Avonworth).

Blue 2, Gold 2 — In the second Class A all-star game, the teams played to a tie. Beckett Dunn (North Catholic), and Jonathan Strilka (Montour) scored for Gold.

Carter Cherok (Greensburg Salem) and Michael Kingerski (Greensburg Salem) had goals, and Noah Outly (Greensburg Salem) had two assists for Blue.

Division 2

Blue 10, Gold 5 — Giovanni Valentine (Neshannock) had four goals and an assist, and Brian McConahy (Neshannock) had a goal and four assists to lead Blue to a victory over Gold in the PIHL Division 2 all-star game.

Mason Glover (Bishop Canevin), Cole Evans (Bishop Canevin), Aiden Pournaras (Central Valley) and Michael Morascyzk (Burrell) also scored for Blue. Tripp Johns (Neshannock) and Kooper Price (Burrell) combined for 21 saves in the win.

Geno Valenti (Morgantown), Ryan Grunden (Deer Laks), Giovanni Porco (Deer Lakes), Mark Rauenswinter (Deer Lakes) and Nick Olshanski (Knoch) scored for Gold.
