Noah Odom will continue his football playing career at Division II Ashland University.

The Plum senior said he’s excited to share this new venture with a couple of Mustangs teammates, as both Josh Curry and T.J. Futules also have signed with the Eagles football program.

“It is truly a blessing to be going to college with people who I know,” he said. “We will have a chance to share a lot of special moments together and grow together. Some of the same experiences we went through together in high school we will go through in college. We will be able to help each other and push each other just like we did (at Plum).

“Ashland is a good environment for us to grow. The coaches work hard, and you can see how they strive to help their players not settle for less than their best.”

Odom, Curry and Futules made their decisions final last Wednesday on the first day of the national letter of intent regular signing period for Division I and II football. They were celebrated at a ceremony at Plum High School.

Dorrian Anderson put pen to paper and will take his talents to Division II Millersville in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

While Noah Odom remains teammates with Curry and Futules, he will part ways with twin brother, Nick, who will play at Division III Delaware Valley.

“It’s going to be a weird feeling being away from my brother,” he said. “But I know we both will get used to it and grow with our separate opportunities. Nick, I know, will do great (at Delaware Valley). We’re really excited for each other.”

Anderson said he is ready for his opportunity in the trenches for Millersville.

“It is really inspiring to see all of us come from where we were to become young adults with so many good things ahead of us. Our dreams are now a reality,” said Anderson, who connected with Marauders assistant coach Dan Beard when he visited Plum.

The 6-foot-2, 265-pound Anderson said he fell in love with Millersville, including all aspects of the football program, during his visit prior to committing.

“It’s just a great fit for me and what I want to accomplish,” he said.

Anderson, Curry, Futules and the Odom brothers join Darian Slaughter and Darian Nelson as college football commits from the Plum senior class.

Slaughter and Nelson both signed with Division I Saint Francis during the early signing period for football in December.

“It is great to see these guys interested in continuing to play football,” Plum coach Matt Morgan said. “We’ve had guys in the past who have had these opportunities choose not to play in college. I am happy for them to get the opportunity to go do it and keep playing a sport they love.”

Senior Trent Reese was a big part of the Plum football defense this past fall, but he will continue in wrestling at the next level. He has signed to compete for Division II UNC-Pembroke.

Last Wednesday was an impactful day for Reese, who celebrated with many of his Plum senior classmates in the afternoon and then was recognized during senior night activities before Plum’s wrestling match with Fox Chapel.

The Mustangs were not able to get the victory, as they fell to the Foxes, 51-20. But Reese came out on top in his 152-pound match with a pin of Oliver Wright in 4 minutes, 43 seconds.

“It’s crazy, just the environment here (at the signing ceremony),” Reese said. “It is such a special day for all of us who have been together since we were really young.”

Reese said a coach from nationals his freshman year, current UNC Pembroke senior and Armstrong graduate Oggie Atwood, reached out to him, and the two had been chatting about the Braves program. He said things developed from there.

“I got in touch with the head coach, and I went for a visit,” Reese said.

“I loved the campus, loved the coaches, loved the room, and loved the guys on the team. Everything just clicked.”

A pair of Division III soccer commits, Catie Weiss and Gage Adinolfi, also were recognized and celebrated at the signing ceremony. Weiss will take her talents to Allegheny, while Adinolfi will play at Penn State Behrend.

Weiss earned Section 4-3A all-star honors on defense this past fall while helping the Plum girls win their sixth straight section championship and reach the semifinals of the Class 3A playoffs.

Adinolfi, an All-WPIAL selection in Class 4A, led the Mustangs in goals (11) and assists (8) and fronted his team’s charge to another section championship, an appearance in the WPIAL title game at Highmark Stadium, and a trip to the PIAA tournament.
