One of the most prolific goal scorers in the state, Lola Abraham of Riverview, was named the recipient of the fifth Moe Rosensteel Award, given to the WPIAL’s best girls soccer player.

Abraham, a Pitt commit, led the Raiders to their first WPIAL championship appearance and a runner-up finish in the WPIAL and PIAA Class A playoffs.

Abraham finished with 77 goals this season and 176 for her career. She led the WPIAL in scoring the last two seasons.

“This award is meaningful to so many, including myself, as it pays tribute to such an amazing person, Moe Rosensteel, who has had an impact on so many,” Abraham said. “I am very honored and grateful to be a part of Moe’s legacy. Throughout the season, both on and off the field, I have worked to play and honor Moe. However, this was not possible without the support of my teammates and coaches.”

Abraham helped rebuild the program at Riverview. In 2020, the Raider did not field a team due to low participation numbers. Three years later, Abraham had them chasing titles.

The other finalists for the Rosensteel Award, named after the late, amiable Ringgold standout Kaitlyn Rosensteel who died in 2019, were Latrobe junior Robin Reilly and North Allegheny senior Abigail Stager.

Reilly is a West Virginia commit, while Stager is headed to Kentucky.

Past winners are Ellie Coffield of Mars (2019), Sarah Schupansky of North Allegheny (2020), Kelsey Salopek of Steel Valley (2021) and Hailey Longwell of Moon (2022).

Coffield and Schupansky have helped Pitt to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
