Let there be light for Saint Vincent College athletic teams.

The school will make history at 7 p.m. Tuesday when the men’s soccer team plays host to Thiel under the lights.

“This is an exciting time for Bearcat athletics,” interim athletic director D.P. Harris said in a press release. “We are always looking for ways to enhance our student-athletes’ experience, and this is a big step in doing so.

“I can already sense the excitement of our players and coaches to play under the lights, and I can’t wait to see the atmosphere at UPMC Field during this week’s games.”

With the addition of lights to UPMC Field, varsity teams who utilize the venue can now schedule night games throughout their seasons.

“Night games are always a great atmosphere to be a part of,” Saint Vincent men’s soccer coach Matt Davis said. “Giving our players the opportunity to play in this environment will not only enhance our program, but the Saint Vincent community as a whole.”
